Some of my favorite shots from day 2 of the Worldwide Firefighter Challenge

It is cool to see so many different country's flags and their firefighters represented at the event.

This dude was massive. He was like 6 foot 6 and probably weighed close to 300 pounds, but he could move and got a great time.

This firefighter from Germany was going for a personal record but fell within a few feet of the finish line.

The Polish firefighters are in amazing shape and have been getting awards each day.
Yesterday was pretty cool at the firefighter event. I brought my daughter along with me and was giving her some pointers on shooting an event like this. She is still pretty new to photography and how the cameras work in manual mode, but she has an amazing eye for catching great photos.
On the way to the event, I tried to explain how manual mode works and how the aperture, ISO and shutterspeed all work together to get good photos. I explained how to read a light meter and when we got there, she went off and took some really great photos. Hopefully I can talk her into sharing them here on Hive because they are so good. It was cool to see how some of our shots are very similar, just from slightly different angles and compositions.
There were so many new faces there yesterday and I think that as the week progresses, more and more people will be there to compete. Friday and Saturday are going to be the main days and I am expecting a lot of people there.
I decided to sell off some crypto and buy some new gear. I've got a new Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 lens coming in the mail today, so hopefully it doesn't take all day to get here because I need to be back at the event later this afternoon. So I am hoping that the lens shows up so I can use it. It will give me double the reach of the lens that I have been using, and the wider aperture will make some really great photos. I have been on the fence with purchasing this lens for a long time, but there have been many situations where this lens would have been so much better for me than the one I was using.
Well, I need to finish eating my smoothie bowl and check on all my gear before I head back out for the day. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my photos. I am having an awesome time capturing them each day. It is really cool to be a part of a worldwide event.

I didn't see it in the photo and I don't think so, but were there any Turkish firefighters in the competition?
I know your daughter will be as good a photographer in the future as you my friend. I have seen a few photos she shared and it is in your genes. After you teach her what you know, I hope she will start sharing on Hive because this platform needs another great photographer.
Thanks man. I think she will share the photos she has been taking, she just needs to find the time.
I havent seen any firefighters from Turkey yet, but I will ask and see if there are any on the list. It would be cool to get some pictures of them for you if they are here.
If there are some Turkish firefighters it will be great to see them. I don't think there is but we will see. Thanks for caring it man!
amazing tense moments 💚

Thanks man. I appreciate it.
sure my pleasure !
Very vibrant photos. They convey the atmosphere of what is happening. Thank
Thanks for the compliment
Amazing shot. I really like the bokeh from the lens you use.
Thank you. Hopefully my new lens arrives soon. The bokeh on that is amazing.
Awaited the results of his shots. I'm still learning how to angle photography correctly.
So that's probably the safest place to play with matches hey?
Probably.

How many firefighters per country?
I have no idea. I think it all depends on how much money they raised to be able to come here for the event.
I see.
I miss something but I'll tell you later.
What is this even supposed to mean?
I just missed real fire extinguishing methods, since that was firefighting event, I think you should've captured some of those competitions.
This was a fitness course for firefighters. They aren’t putting out fire…
Proud to see Slovenian flag on the first photo. You knew it is Slovenian? The very first one from the left.
Otherwise, firefighters are very popular here in my country. We hoste Firefighter Olympic Games this year in Celje. But what is even more impressive, is that firefighters team from my city/village won gold medal! This place has population like 1000 people. Crazy, right? Folks from my place won that big competition...
Well thanks for sharing and reliving my memories.
Take care!

I didn't know it was a Slovenian flag. That is awesome. I am going to try and see if I can recognize the patches on their uniforms better and find some other countries today.
That is awesome you guys host those games there. I bet there are a lot of the same competitors there that they have here for this event.
your pictures are really expressive, I loved them, what a great job colleague.
Thanks man
Great captures.
And how wonderful to read that your daughter joined you and is interested in photography. Hope she will share some of her captures here. 🤞🏻😁
The event looks just amazing. So many photo opportunities.
Thanks for sharing some more @derangedvisions 👋🏻😎
Thank you. I am hoping she will post them soon. She took so many good ones.
You are welcome @derangedvisions 😁 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Enjoy your weekend further and the rest of the event!
Awesome photos man! It suckes to hear about the firefighter that just fell short of his PR! Hopefully he uses it as motivation to beat it next time!
Ya, it sucks watching them fall like that right before the finish line. These guys train so hard for this event. The elevation that they are competing at here is a lot different than what they are used to and it has really slowed them down and took a lot out of them.
Truly this tournament goes beyond what I thought brother, firefighters have to have a lot of strength to be able to survive and save lives without complications, they are truly admirable people.
Ya man. These people are in super good shape. It’s been cool to see them in action.
