Thank you Hive
As I move into this next chapter of my life, it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the community that I have grown to love over the last six years. I have had a great time sharing my photography with you all over the years.
Over the years here, I have shared countless images with everyone. Many of the images were created solely for the purpose of sharing them here on Hive. Hive has done wonders for my creativity and really pushed me to become a better photographer in general. When I started my photography journey years ago, it was because my memory was beginning to fade and I wanted to be able to capture memories so that I would have a way to remember things.
My goal with Hive/Steem back in the day was just to have a place to share my creativity with the world. I have done very well here and got a lot of support over the years and for that I will always be grateful.
I met so many great people here as well and had the opportunity to travel around the world to meet many of those people in person. I have done so many things in the recent past that I would not have done without the inspiration that I got from Hive and the community here. I started several communities and really fell in love with the community in general. My Photography Lovers community has grown to over 21,000 members and is still very active to this day. I have left that community in great hands and I look forward to it continuing to flourish with amazing photography being shared each day.
Hive has given me the opportunity to really learn about crypto and the potential that it can have for the world. I have been lucky over the years to have made some very good trades in crypto with the earnings that I have gotten here on Hive, and I am hoping to be totally debt free in the next six months. That would not have ever been possible without Hive, so I just want to thank you all for all of the support over the years.
The birth of our grandson has really put things into perspective for me, and that is the main reason I am leaving. I am planning on focusing more on my health, mental health and my loved ones. Life is a gift, so be sure to make the most of it. Go outside and touch the earth and spend time with family. Love is what life is all about. Thank you Hive for showing me the important aspects of life and giving me the tools to take care of my family.
This is touching, you have really gone a long way here in hive, hive will miss you, we too will miss your beautiful pictures and content but just as you said life is precious and needs more attention and also our family needs us, we are also part of your family now, do not just forget us all, just check on us from time to time.

I had been sneaking in and out till recently for awhile. I spent the last two years barely working, dealing with health stuff and moving to a new country. But lately I have sort of dove back in here all the way. Got a witness node going in partnership with the infamous EngineWitty, called @Pollenation and I made an app called HiveStreams.Live for the community to live stream on and watch each other on. But I am sad to see that there have been more leavers than stayers around here.
Sounds like you have been busy. I hope your health stuff has cleared up. I started my health journey a little over 2 years ago and have been going strong for the last 143 weeks. We only get one body and we gotta take care of it.
Where did you move to? I would love to get out of the US someday.
My health stuff is gonna be permanent but its manageable. Had a couple hospitalizations last year though.
Im in Costa Rica, living in the northern volcano and cow part of the country, total rain forest. Very small town. Plenty of choices to exit the USA to, I picked this one after seeing 17 countries but it would likely not have been my first choice, until an opportunity opened up next door to people I already knew... from here actually, so I took the leap and bought the spot last winter. So far so good.
Costa Rica is on my list of places to visit one day. I have really been considering moving there as well. I just need to convince my wife.
Visit first, the typical "gringo" who says "Costa Rica is on my list" but who hasn't spent significant time there first, are the ones who make the stat "90% of gringos who move to CR don't last two years" a true statement. It's expensive, first and foremost, its not going to meet most North American expectations in most ways, and its hot as fuck, ALL the time. Except when its raining 9 months a year, because then its wet. AND hot as fuck too.
I wouldn’t consider myself a typical gringo. I grew up in several different countries and have traveled quite a bit as well.
Fair enough. Spend a LOT of time in CR and in about a half dozen to a dozen different parts of the country before any kind of purhase or lease commitment. It's nothing like any other country in LatAm, for various reasons, and very very very unlike what most people expect of it. This from watching thousands of forum posts and meeting people and visiting, then buying property and ultimately living there myself. You gotta basically be ready to pay extreme amounts for even the lowest and most basic lifestyles, if you want things like A/C, or hot running water or other things, well prepare for those to cost like luxuries not basic necessities. It's better in the rural central areas, especially in the north, but the beach towns and big cities? You'll find a better, more comfortable, cheaper life in Miami.
That sucks it is so expensive there. I’ve also been looking at places in Asia as well. If anything, we will be keeping one home here in the US and just travel around living in different countries for a few months at a time. I’m really just interested in moving around the world for the food and pictures. I won’t set up a permanent residence in another country.
Well Costa Rica is the blandest food in Lat Am too, but there are a few jewels available, mostly the fruits, chocolate and coffee though. If you want "latin" food, Mexico or Peru for sure. CR is just mostly poverty plates of bean and rice, which are good for me and my issues, mostly stomach related, but they aren't winning any culinary awards in CR for national cuisine.

Yup, its a very basic country. Which is why I say visit, a lot, first, people seem to get Costa Rica confused with a cheap tropical paradise, it's kinda really not that unless you are dumping mass tourist money at the beach.

I'll always remember your funny conversations with scammers on the OCD discord server, the way you guided me and gave me advice. You even taught me an English slang word (tool). Hive has contributed a lot to all of us. I'm so happy to have met you as one of the people who contributed a lot in making me what I am today. I wish you all the best in your life, I know you will eventually come back here and share memories with your grandson, but I will miss you in your absence. Take care of yourself man. I'd say it'd be quite bad if the platform didn't defend themselves from such activities by protecting inflation being directed towards that.

@acidyo you’re the first person to directly ask me anything about my GT7 livery posts outside of a watchers comment accusation about 2 months ago claiming they are all AI. Everybody else just decided to nuke anything I post in unison without a single conversation as to why.

Next thing I knew multiple of my favorite communities muted me and all of the non-GT7 livery gaming content I’ve posted over the years now has a filter over it.
For clarity…
With my GT7 livery posts — I used the detailed historical info included for all cars in Gran Turismo 7 — the game is basically a history book for everything automotive. Also my own knowledge of the cars and then YES also used AI to help me organize said information. Lastly altered the text myself to finalize all of the writing. AI was one of several tools in the process.
Most people these days use AI for something and that includes you I’m sure. I haven’t read up on anything recently, but I thought @holozing was using AI to generate the monster artwork. Maybe I’m wrong, it’s none of my business really and frankly I don’t even care as long as it turns out to be an awesome game in the end. I know for sure @ragnarok.game was doing that with their art though, and support for that seemed to be good and no harm done.
I really just don’t see how any of my livery posts are considered “low effort” though since it takes me minimum 2-4 hours to design each livery then more time on top of that to setup and photograph them in various locations using GT7 Scapes. Hand placing every single decal doesn’t feel like low effort work to me. I’m sure there’s people who have never played GT7 and may also believe each livery and car photograph is fully AI generated too. To be clear. The car designs have zero AI assistance.
It was just a mess and it all happened right as I was about to leave for the biggest international trip of my life. I was focused on making sure traveling went smoothly and was not about to spend my travel time debating with people who had seemingly already made up their mind about me considering nobody actually reached out to me directly. So I figured I would get back to it when I returned and then start sharing all of my travel stuff from the trip. When I finally got home I had travel afterglow and felt like maybe a break from Hive would be the best thing for me since lately it’s just been a headache. I still feel that way after almost 2 whole months.

How did that make anything clear? You didn't address the issue I'm assuming HW and others went after you for; generated text without the mention that it's generated. You can post screenshots and stuff all you want, people can decide if they wanna reward it or not. The issue is including text you didn't create to give an illusion of "more effort" which may trick unknowing curators, communities or others into thinking you shared the screenshots and your own words behind a post.
A simple "this text is AI generated" message would've sufficed and I doubt HW would've downvoted.
You dancing around the main issue in this very comment is already weird.
If you were too tired/needed a break that's another thing, come back and explain the situation, not "blame" the platform as if you're an innocent bystander when it's clear to many why the HW downvotes occurred which they most likely even told you about.
If text is AI generated, mention it, if image is AI generated, mention it. You know the rise of AI and the issues not only potentially here but literally in schools with pupils presenting AI assisted work as their own. Would you give a presentation where none of the text are your own words without mentioning they're not?

How am I dancing? I can put it even more plainly. I wrote it. Put it into AI to better organize it. Then made my own edits.
I was not blaming the platform. I was blaming some of the people using the platform who have large amounts of HP and trust an “AI Detector” to make judgment for them and then listen to their peers to gang up without actually digging deeper into the situation.
You can say most likely all you want, but nobody ever sent me a direct message about anything. There was the same automated comment on a handful of posts all on the same day saying “we believe this to be AI-generated” or something along those lines.
Feels like you and I have never even just had normal conversation in all of these years. At least I can’t remember the last time we did. It’s always what I’m doing wrong and how to be do better for the platform.

Man I am glad that everything is going very well for you and your family, your photographs over the years have been very great and now that you are a grandfather even more so you must be with your family, rather thanks to you for always sharing with us your great photographs, of which you have become quite an expert in the area, I miss the ones you took of your pets, especially the cats, your beautiful pets have a very strong feeling, good luck in everything you do and above all, live longer, take care of yourself and enjoy your family good man, you deserve it, you will be missed a lot here in Hive.
You made this place better for all you did. I can definitely say your someone I am happy that I have met, and even done stuff here with:)
