Hike or Nature walk?

At what point does a nature walk become a hike? After thirty minutes, after one hour, after ninety minutes? Two hours? Must it have at least fifty metres of elevation gain or loss? Today I went for a nice long Nature walk / Hike, the weather was perfect, about 17°C or 63°F. Pretty decent for a mid-October day. Was actually planning on going yesterday, but the weather turned for the worse, so I decided to scrap that plan and do it today. That was the right decision. Spent most of the walk near or close to the river, plenty of people out and about, lots of bikes actually. Even saw one guy on a “one wheel”, and I’m sure he was over fifty years old. Impressive. I should buy a one wheel! Anyone have one or tried one before? Have you gone for any epic Fall walks or hikes?

Laughter out loud, I did a few of those high sides, too much fun, too hip out.

I hope you enjoyed your walk. A day before yesterday, the weather was very bad in my town too, in contrast yesterday it was the superb weather

It is always nicer to enjoy the outdoors when the weather is cooperating.

A wonderful atmosphere. The colors of the sky and the clouds in the sky and the surrounding nature are really amazing. And walking in such nature is really pleasant.

I think it's nice to have a walk in this place to enjoy the view which is natural and a good place to unwind.

For me personally.. I reckon a hike entails vegetation brushing the legs, dusty feet, sweat, the constant need to both drink and watch how much refreshment remains, some elevation, and perhaps longer than 90 mins each way. You've been on loaaaaaadddddsss of hikes my friend! Great photos btw :)

That sounds about right. Do stairs count as elevation gain..

That depends on how I feel on the day haha. If my lungs are on fire and my legs are stinging, while I'm also wet with sweat.. then for sure!

I have argued with my girlfriend on this subject a lot. She says that its not a hike if there is no mountains to climb, I disagree, a longer forest walk or bog walk can also be a hike. Still no agreement tho 😀

On a “one wheel” at 50?... Wow!... I'm 52 and I'm having a hard time riding a two-wheeled bike!... I've never been very athletic, I'm more of "slow and almost always tired" type ha ha ha :))... But a walk is a walk (according to me at least) depending on the distance, I believe that everything that is more than a couple of kilometers is already a "walk" even if it is short but it is... On the other hand: Wow, beautiful photos with warm autumn colors! Applause for you as always friend!
