Chutes Blakiston

Here are a few extra photos captured during my short hike to Blakiston Falls, or as the French say: “Chutes Blakiston”. Generally the signage inside our national parks have both French and English, except for maybe a “stop” sign. Notice also, the hike to the falls is 1 km or kilometre, unlike our southern neighbours who use miles under the Customary system (USCS). Canada can be a confusing place sometimes, we have English and French, Kilometres and miles, inches and centimetres, the list goes on…thanks for stopping by.

Hello @daveks! These shots of Blakiston Falls are absolutely stunning. As a journalist, I really appreciate the clarity and the composition of your photos. To answer your question—I honestly love both, but there is something timeless and 'profound' about your black and white captures. They highlight the raw texture of the burnt trees and the landscape in a way that color sometimes hides. However, the blue sky in your color shots provides such a beautiful contrast! It’s great to see you using the Sony A7R III; the details are crisp. Thank you for sharing these masterpieces and for the invitation to the photography community. Greetings from Bangladesh!

Thank you so much for the warm response! As someone who appreciates the fine details in photography, I find your work truly inspiring. The way you balance the shadows in your black-and-white shots and the vividness in your color photography shows a master's touch. I'm a journalist from Bangladesh, and I love capturing stories through my lens as well. It’s an honor to learn from a pro like you. Looking forward to your next masterpiece!

Are there are lot of french people living in Canada, if there are, then this would make sense. It's still a very beautiful place though

I'm the kind of guy who loves using leafless trees to compose photos, so it's totally impossible for me to see this wonderful image and not say that I was ecstatic looking at it!... BRAVO!
