Reprocessing and entering a competition…
Going through some of my images from last year I was never 100% with the final product until now. I am processing them using a different technique and as such i am really liking the overall outcome of what I would call the finished product.
The process that I am doing is using masks, so with the above image I select the sky, copy the mask and invert it, then I process the sky and foreground independently rather than making global adjustments, and I have to say that I am more than pleased with the overall out ome.
All the images in this post were processed the same way, I do like the above image, even through mistakes where made when shooting it, as I was in the moment and too busy concentrating on the sky so I blew the window out, however I found if I made this shot darker it kind of works better than it did in my original edit.
The above shot was the first one that I processed using the new method, I was so amazed at the colours that was brought out using this method, especially the oranges and the reds, just magnificent.
So what now?
Well the first image in this selection is one of my alltime favourites, its had a fantastic reception on my flickr page and even gaining an explore, die to what people have said about the image, Ihave entered it into the Astrophotographer Of The Year awards. I am fairly humble when it comes to my photography and this is something that I don’t usually do, but fingers crossed, Im not sure how I’d feel if I won it, but fingers crossed. I do know for a fact that I will be against some stunning shots and serious competition.
All shots taken with a Sony A7iii and a Samyang 14mm F/2.8 lens.
