STREET PHOTOGRAPHY IN CENTER HABANA, CUBA [ENG-ESP]
Hello friends who love photography, I hope you are well and that you are having a happy holiday season. May 2023 be a better year in every aspect of life.
Today I would like to show you some images of Centro Habana, one of the municipalities of my city. A bit of street photography I did before Christmas.
Some guys next to one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of old cars that are in operation every day in the streets of my country, I remember that they realized that I was with the camera, and they greeted me, I waited a couple of seconds and when they found where I wanted I made the capture. It seemed that they were walking, carefree and relaxed.
We can also see what we call Bicitaxi here, it would be a kind of tricycle where the driver takes the client by pedaling to the agreed place, prices vary depending on the place, distance and time, a few months ago they were a little more affordable, today they are practically a luxury for the average Cuban.
On my walk I met some people, some were just passing through, walking calmly after a tiring day for sure.
In other cases I could see people coming home, here a father and his son coming back from learning to ride his little bike, I heard the boy called father...
I went on my way and I found three children who were doing, the portal of a building, racing competitions, the little girl who was in the middle won. Behind us, a man who was walking without paying us, shall we say, much attention.
I arrived at a small sports area, many young people were practicing basketball, some were waiting their turn to play.
Others played soccer, in those days we were very aware of the recently finished World Cup in Qatar.
Here the group of players is carefully observed by some boys. Obviously, you can't hear it, but the cries of support between them could be heard even from outside the venue.
Just like I could see some of their hands and faces from the street when they went over a wall, I guess, to be a little more comfortable.
Before I put the camera away, I looked up and saw a lady on one of the balconies of my old Havana who was about to hang some of her recently washed clothes on a cable clothesline.
Telling stories through photography is something that I really enjoy, in this case street photography and documentary film, although they have points in common, they differ, so they are not the same, now they will tell me that all photography has a character documentary, without disagreeing with that, I would like to tell you that speaking purely of genres they are different (Street photography and documentary photography) although what I want and work for one day is to be a great storyteller.
All photos were taken by me, with my Canon 6d Mark 2 and my 50 mm lens with variable apertures, but never at extremes.
