An unexpected capture: the Philippine maya perching on concrete structure

Hello everyone.. a good day again to you all where ever part of the world you are right now.. hope everyone's doing great today..
The other day, my daughter and I left early because we still needed to process some of the documents she needed to submit for her DOST scholarship. We were going to the municipal health center to have her consulted there so we could save money since the consultation was free.
After that, we planned to go to the city to buy the pants she would need for their work immersion in the coming weeks. My wife and my niece were supposed to follow us after we finished at the health center. We agreed to meet at the wharf, where the fiber boats dock.
When we arrived, we did not expect to see so many people already waiting in line. Some of them had arrived even earlier than us. Still, we decided to wait and hoped that the process would be quick. But it turned out to be taking a very long time, and it looked like we might have to wait until the afternoon because our queue number was still quite far away.
So I called my wife and told her about the situation. She suggested that we just leave and have the consultation at a private clinic the next day instead, so it would be faster. Otherwise, we might get home late because we still had to travel to the city and go shopping afterward.

When we got to the wharf, we sat down for a while because my wife and niece had not arrived yet. While I was looking out at the sea, I noticed a familiar bird perched nearby.
It was a sparrow, and I realized that I had not seen one for a long time—probably several years already. So I immediately walked closer to it. When I first approached, it flew away, but it came back again after a while. I quickly took a photo, but it soon flew away again.

Sparrows come in different colors. Some have reddish coloring, while others are gray. Some of them are caught and sold as pets, especially the red and gray ones.
They are commonly caught because there are times when their population becomes very large and they can become a nuisance to crops, especially rice. When a large flock of sparrows lands in a rice field, they can quickly eat a lot field of the rice grains.
That is why, in some places, people catch and sell them, while others even use them as food and cook them as a dish. But here in our area, sparrows have become quite rare. It was only recently that I saw one again after such a long time.
I wasn't able to take many photos because it flew away so quickly every time it landed.
