Biggest Protest Ever

avatar
(Edited)

One day someone will make a movie about all that happened in the last few months (or even years) and all of you that didn't live it will be sure that it can't be real, it must have been fiction.

beograd protesti mart (30).jpg

One thing is sure, this was the biggest protest ever in Serbia. There was no looting, Romanians did come to peoples apartments to burglarized them while they are out protesting (don't ask), people walked for kilometers because public transport was canceled, last time i had so many people say sorry for me pushing them in the crowds was loong ago at Exit festival :D

And it was raining half of the day.

Edit: just found this photo from bulavin_prod on instagram. And this still does not show all the people

484865603_1117442490183261_8717662371617362509_n.jpeg

The only incident that happened was when 15 minutes of silence was held for 15 people who died when the train station canopy collapsed. Invisible force split people in several streets. There is a strong indication that some kind of sonic cannon was used.

And around that time group of people from Ćacilend attacked some protestants and police intervened. (don't google Ćacilend)

It is very similar to the organized methods of conducting color revolutions - one wave can be followed by another, stronger one.

i can't claim anything, but you had everyone out on the streets, from crazy far right to crazy far left and everything in the middle. I just hope after this, the middle (majority) will actually stay interested and willing.

You know what amazes me? After months people are still protesting, people don't forget and keep fight... Here when we had Genova bridge collapse for no manutention done, policts corrupted and such there was nothing, and it was all forgotten in a few weeks... Serbians have the balls for sure

there the canopy was the drop that went over the glass. there was so much shit in the past years... ffs today the Ministry of health of Macedonia had to issue a statement "people not to take photos with burn victims who are in hospitals" because HE had to make a photo op with full room of reporters in intensive care.

Politicians are riducolous worldwide it seems, that's so crap

I also heard they used sonic weapons on people there in Serbia

well the chronology of president and ministry of police statements about sonic weapons goes like this:

Saturday: we didn't use anything

Sunday: we didn't use sound/sonic weapons, we don't even own one

Monday: we didn't use sound/sonic weapons, we don't own any, it is against the law

Tuesday: well we kinda own 16 sound/sonic weapons, someone bought them but the law didn't pass so we are not sure who is responsible for them, and where exactly they are. But we are sure no one used them.

if you look at the videos, where crowd splits in half from the middle of the street and follow the pattern of statements with previous incidents, there is a clear conclusion.

First statement was "we renovated the whole building but we only didn't renovate the canopy"
Then documents came out, they added 23 tons to the canopy while renovating.

A week ago someone injured a police officer. First statement was "evil violent students injured police officer with Brass knuckles"
Then the video shows up of the police officer who was in plain cloths with no indication he is a police officer.

Then this video shows up:

As i said in some comments, mix of Monty Python and 1986

Indeed I am sure a government doesn't know where are sonic weapons which must even be expensive

That was a free punch for a total no reason, just a punch for the sake of it

maybe the friendly fire was because the policemen in uniform recognized his colleague in civil cloths and took the opportunity for a free hit :D

Wednesday, we found some of the sound weapons, they were not in boxes, they were kinda mounted on vehicles around the protests, but they only planed to use them in standard, laud voice mode to warn protesters if they start a riot, they don't even know where the other button is located and even if they did know, they would never use it because it is against the law :D

Dear friend, I live in Croatia, a country that suffered in war, a country that for many years kept its distance from Serbia. Although, all this time I know very well that we, the little people, are not to blame for anything and we started to hate each other. Now, when I see these children, these youth, these fighters for their better tomorrow and against single-mindedness, corruption and dictatorship, my heart breaks, they have my support, as well as the support of most of us who live in Croatia. And I know one thing, these are our children ❤️💙❤️

Thank you @topcomment ..... I've really been crying for days... and I've already told myself I won't watch anymore... and I can't, I keep watching... and I'm crying... Serbia and my Croatia have been opponents for years, for years we've looked at each other ugly, with hatred..... it's time to direct our shared hatred at all those who don't give us a normal and good life...

People here say it is some kind of collective therapy after years of abusive relationship. Students are walking around the country, and everyone who greets them is crying.
I had tears in my eyes just reading your first comment. it is probably not normal (or maybe it is), but it is a weird state of mind.

I don't even know how to respond to this. All of that shit was because of greedy corrupted people decided to serve higher interest. And i know for this side, non of them risked anything, they all just got filthy rich. ffs our current president got a 117m2 apartment from the state just before the bombing started.
There are always stupid and evil people, it is just how humanity is made, but most people are actually good, especially if you give them an opportunity.

Last year i spent 10 days in Croatia, 6 in Split and 4 traveling around. I had exactly 0 bad looks at me. Everyone was supper helpful and nice. And even better way to see this is when people who migrated meet in some foreign country. We all grown up with the same music, same movies, same culture.

There is an interesting theory about these kids now, they were all born when people in Serbia were most hopeful about the future in the last 40 years, maybe there is something in that.

Let's spread love, let's defeat hatred.... We little people can still do miracles, we know how to love and respect, we know how to recognize the good in people..... ❤️❤️

It was truly unbelievable to see this. We were watching it on TV with my co-workers from Serbia, and it was actually pretty emotional. I don't believe we have ever seen so many people gathered for a protest in the Balkans. The crowd seemed never-ending. I can't even find the words to describe what I felt when I saw the videos taken from the sky.

and all the public transport was stopped. So everyone who wanted to attend had to walk across the city. A lot of transport from other cities was also stopped that day. Trains didn't go for 2 days because of "bomb threats". And it rained half of the day.

After so many different troubles that people from Serbia had in their recent history, wars, inflation, poverty, belittling, and whatnot, it had to happen something terrible to "cause" people to raise their voices... Despite all the provocations and tricks by those who want dark over the country, these young people decided to fight with silence! It's amazing how silence can be such a powerful weapon!

Unfortunately, dictators in the Balkans didn't learn anything from history... It looks like they can leave their power only in the worst possible way... Romanian scenario or Serbia from the 90ies? We will see soon...

Great photos! You took part in writing history!

i hope this is happening for this and any other government in the future. serve the people and try to do everything to make their lives easier. especially on the local level.

aWgqV0q_460s.jpg

from videos and information, they did everything to make this protest violent so they could justify using force. you can see "students who wants to learn" (for those not familiar, these are students who wants to learn) ready and police moving out. Organizers made some good decisions to prevent it escalating.

This brings back sad memories of a similar protest in 2019 when over 1m took to the streets in Hong Kong. Sadly it ended really badly for the protesters when faced against a hard line dictatorship. Many innocent high profile protesters including lawyers, activists, academics and ex politicians have been thrown into jail. I truly hope the Serbians fight for justice will succeed so the government will know that the true power lies in the hands of the people and not the authorities.

i have no idea how will this finish. it's been 4 months now. Students are doing everything to keep these protests peaceful, a lot of people are angry.
we are currently living in a parody of a state, with fake government, fake students who wants to learn, fake veterans who want to support students who want to learn, tractors who want to learn (which mysteriously showed up around students who wants to learn)... Monty Python would be proud and government from 1986 would take notes.

The whole situation of uncertainty in Croatia is very sad. Where children, women and innocent people have died as a result of the war.Being united is important in these protests. Many people came here to continue fighting for their wellbeing.

amazing report. why did so many people carry, or display, a whistle?

0

avatar

i am pretty sure they were used before but in the protests from start of the 90's till the end of them, main noise makers on protests were whistles and pot and wooden spoons.
The particular sign means i used this whistle in 1996 student protests and here we are again. It is a bit sad, but a lot of people who were students then actually still have those whistles used then, and are using them again.

It's so sad to see what happens out there! We have plenty of protests in Romania too and I really don't like the twists this globe has taken lately!

i seen that you also have protests. I have some basic info, but didn't go deep into it.
Funny thing here is that these protest are not supported by anyone, Europe is kinda trying to keep the protests down, USA sent Trump Jr to Serbia just 2 days before the protest, Russia is also condemning them. So looks like people are really pissed and not influenced by anyone outside.

Was this the protest where the military or police deploy a microwave-based crowd control beam onto a peaceful crowd?

0
0
0.000
avatar

yes. they used something. no way the crowd did that by themselves. It went from we don't own any acoustic cannons and never had, to we do own 16 LRAD systems, they were mounted on police cars near the protest, but we never used them, in just 4 days.
So time will tell what exactly happened.

0

0.000

wow. this is big
that invisible cannon thing looks crazy....what does it feel like? can it damage you or is it just a repellent?
many places are growing increasingly unhappy with their leadership.
but economics are so out of control...
who can be a good leader now?

0
0
0.000
avatar

that was in one street so was lucky to not be there. all the people say it was really strange, like something is coming at you fast, but there is nothing, so the first instinct is to run away. it was designed as repellent but it can do some damage, most people complained about hearing problems, headache, dizziness. there were some reports about problems with pacemakers, but can't say that was confirmed.

But now that few days gone by and the picture is more clear and some pieces of the puzzle are more visible, the idea was to create chaos, so "students who want to learn" located in the Cacilend can start a riot and then they would have a cause to use full forces of the police.

students who want to learn from Cacilend

who can be a good leader now?

i have a feeling that most don't even care, get 50 random people from the street see how it goes, do it again.

For two days, President and Minister of Police claimed they didn't use anything and the state don't even own LRAD. Then some people found documents that they ordered some LRAD in 2021. So Minister of Police comfirmed we have 16 of them, but the law didn't pass so we never used them, and they are still all packed in boxes in the warehouse.
Two days ago Chef of Police gave a statement on video, that they never used it, never mounted it on a car (literally said that) and they are all in a warehouse packed in the box, they checked, non are missing.
Yesterday morning a video came out of a police car parked next to the government building (protest was in front of the building) with mounted LRAD on the hood 😂 but they claim they wanted to use it as a loud speaker (that is one of the modes it has).
You can't make this shit up, i would not be surprised if today we get a video of them using it.

If it was a peaceful repellent then maybe ok,
but if it is damaging people, no wonder they try to cover it up.
The people must stay strong.
Also, when you turn this in to a feature film, or a long running series, I will come and act in it for you!

well it didn't go as they planned, they wanted incidents so they could use full force and maybe implement matial law, but people were smarter.

well i will find you a role 😄
