The beauty of enjoying an art competition.

Being able to walk through the corridors of an art gallery enjoying a wide variety of works by different artists is one of the things I am most passionate about. You learn techniques and ways of seeing art that may be different from my own, but they enrich me.

On this occasion, I bring you the second part of a great exhibition held at the El Ateneo art gallery in the city of Malaga. A masterful exhibition on the 11th plastic arts competition in 2025. The large number of exhibitors and the variety of works was impressive, so here I bring you the second part. If you like, you can tell me which is your favourite in this section, as there are paintings, sculptures and much more.

"Metamorphosis" – Milagros Sánchez Gavilá – Acrylic on canvas

This first work is one of my favourites in this section. Both the colours used and the technique have been well developed, and I particularly liked paying attention to certain details of the textures created in this work.

On top of an initial painting that appears to be a large city with its buildings, rendered in black and white, the artist adds colour as if transforming a dark reality, at least that is how I see it.

20250612_183636.jpg

"Ascensió Pel Buit" – Moisés Gil – Steel and polyester resin

Here, the artist shows us a sculpture made from a mixture of interesting materials, which, as far as I can tell, represents a climb or ascent into or towards the void. Of course, there are as many interpretations as there are people viewing the work. It could also be seen as a climb towards goals or objectives.

20250612_183810.jpg

"Inner Light" – Ángeles Morejón – Oil on canvas

I really liked this painting, which depicts a real-life scene as seen from a window in a building, what can be seen from there, but with an interesting metaphor. While everything around us may seem dark or the sun may be hidden, what matters is that our inner light continues to shine.

20250612_183906.jpg

"Chicken coop" – Inma Santana Medina – Watercolour

Just look at the faces of the chickens, they are excellently rendered in their smallest details, although the feathers are also painted in a spectacular way, especially in watercolour, a technique that is often difficult to handle when it comes to precise details. I loved this work for its execution and the final result, as well as the colour contrasts.

In this case too, although I had to deal with reflections, I was able to take closer photographs and admire the details I am talking about.

20250612_183958.jpg

"Anochecer en el olivar" (Sunset in the Olive Grove) – Macarena Pozo Horcas – Black wood on copper, 280 gsm Hahnemühle paper.

At first glance, this work appears simple, but the technique used is spectacular. In fact, this work was chosen as a finalist in the engraving category of the competition.

20250612_184027.jpg

20250612_184022.jpg

"Bucólico 1" (Bucolic 1) – María Ángeles Bret Franco – Oil on panel.

I really liked this work because I love how nature is expressed in it, and the oil gives it a unique texture, relief and shine. One area appears completely dark, in shadow, while on the opposite side the path made of autumn leaves has much more light, which is interesting for reflecting on the paths of life. I also took some close-up photographs to appreciate the details of both the path and the trees.

20250612_184042.jpg

"Rural Mist" – Juanjo Kamatxo – Acrylic on canvas

A simple, straightforward work with a rural theme, depicting the immensity and expanse of the countryside. I liked the sepia colours of the land, mixed with the reflections of the lagoons and the green of some trees. A beautiful representation of rural life.

20250612_184057.jpg

"Acorn" - Antonio Dorado Guerra - Oil on linen canvas.

This is another of my favourite works, with its soft grey colours mixed with greens in the background, in perfect harmony with the leaves and acorns. A delicate painting that would look good on any wall in any home, a very beautiful work.

20250612_184110.jpg

"Bicycle Tyre II" - Miguel Ángel Martínez García - Direct carving on grey and white marble.

A work that surprised me a lot when I saw it, because from a distance it simply looked like a bicycle tyre, nothing more, but when I saw how it was made, I was speechless. It is truly spectacular and this work was a finalist in the sculpture category of the competition. Well deserved.

20250612_184138.jpg

"Bésame" (Kiss Me) - Inma Peña - Acrylic on canvas

When I saw this work, I remembered how I used to make faces in a vector programme on my computer, where you can see the different shades of colour separately. Whenever I look at art exhibitions, it brings back memories of what I learned.

20250612_184411.jpg

"Manifesto City" - Miguel Muñoz Pérez – Etching and aquatint

An interesting work with a technique that I think is somewhat complicated to execute, but the end result is very good. If you look closely, you can see the houses and buildings that make up the city. Of course, we can also see other things, such as a tapestry of geometric shapes that could decorate any home.

It's great that in addition to enjoying this exhibition, you can learn other techniques. It's definitely very enriching.

The paintings are truly beautiful, although what caught my attention most was the sculpture "Ascension of the Buit."

Thank you very much, Amonet, for these beautiful photos.

Have a beautiful day.

I find myself reflecting on each piece and what it conveys to me.
They’re truly fascinating and well-crafted works, and I love what you see through them. The piece I like the most isn’t the one with the bicycle tube, but it feels so real I can hardly believe it’s carved in marble.
It inspired me to take an artistic photo of the tube I ruined a few days ago… hahaha. Joke. Now I just have to figure out how to fit it with a new valve.

I knew you would choose that one!!! When I saw it, I said... but it's a bike camera, and when I read about the material... wowww, it's real!! Incredible!

Bueno el proceso de cambio de válvula... puede ser un post jajaja

Hello, it's great to visit art galleries and learn while contemplating their beauty and charm in each painting.
I think the artist is trying to show us what caused the city to lose its color: a flood or a storm.
The sculpture of a man climbing a difficult structure tells us that if we are strong and overcome our fear, we can accomplish such a feat. It's a trophy to be awarded to someone who has achieved their goals.
The "Inner Light" painting is a flashback to the "first painting." Everything is calm before the storm.
A beautiful art exhibition, my lady.😀
