The Beauty of Exploring Unfamiliar Roads | Street Photography

I have a new photography walk collection to share with you, Hivers. :) As usual I went out early in the morning but this time opted for a different route. Sometimes as street photographers we are guilty of getting into a rut (myself included) by walking along the same main streets thinking it's the best place to find good opportunities.

But it's often when we improvise and find ourselves in less familiar roads that we see things with fresh eyes. Like that quote from Dostoyevsky says

“But I always liked side-paths, little dark back-alleys behind the main road- there one finds adventures and surprises, and precious metal in the dirt.”

I started by finding this beautiful patch of light coming into a passage that leads to a small shopping district. With the low sun position the light creates a beautiful long triangle. All I needed was to wait for some interesting subject to pass through it and I was lucky to grab a few good shots. On the left there are some business offices and the security asked me to move as they had upcoming meetings. :D Luckily I got what I wanted and so continued further.

Another interesting composition was in the park across the Parliament building. I see three trees perfectly spread and lit by the sun. Nearby the dogs played with their owners so I prayed for them to come this way and get between the trees. And less than a minute later the ideal scenario happened. Sometimes we have to ask for the help from universe. :)

I also liked the photo of a girl walking past the window in one of the side alleys. There's a beautiful shadow cast on the right side and light is nice and soft. The entire walk seemed to be about those small patches of light cast between buildings. In order to emphasize what's important something needs to be hidden. The interplay of light and shadow.
