I know I always start my posts by saying it’s the most special one I’ve ever written, but life just keeps gifting me beautiful moments, and my gratitude for so many joyful events naturally bubbles up from within my very being 🤭 The universe conspired to make my birthday week perfect; something happened that I never imagined would occur in my lifetime—and believe me, it was just as amazing to me as visiting the Vatican last year. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a loyal follower of Saint Seiya ("Knights of the Zodiac")—a manga series that is still releasing new episodes—and, naturally, a fan of the anime adaptation. As a musician, I’ve never been able to ignore the soundtrack accompanying so many scenes that defined my childhood and adolescence; the music from this anime is considered some of the best of all time. That’s why I really want you to play the video I’ve posted above before you keep reading 🙏

Sé que siempre comienzo mis post diciendo que es el más especial que he escrito, pero es que la vida no deja de regalarme momentos hermosos, y mi gratitud ante tantos acontecimientos de felicidad emerge naturalmente en mi cosmoenergia 🤭 El universo conspiró para que mi semana de cumpleaños sea perfecta, y es que ocurrió algo que jamás pensé que me pasaría en la vida, y créanme que fue tan asombroso para mí como conocer el Vaticano el año pasado. Desde que tengo recuerdos soy fiel seguidor de Saint Seiya, "Los Caballeros del Zodiaco", una historia de manga que aún sigue estrenando nuevos episodios, y por ende, fan de la serie de animé. Como músico, siempre ha sido imposible para mí ignorar la banda sonora que acompaña a tantas escenas que marcaron mi infancia y adolescencia, y es que la música de este animé está considerada como una de las mejores de todos los tiempos. Teatrex, El Bosque:

I almost missed this once-in-a-lifetime event. It was announced two months ago, and at the time I couldn't afford it—though that wasn't the real issue; later, once I had the money, I forgot to buy tickets because we were so busy with the choir in May, our anniversary month. To my surprise, a friend from the choir was chosen to sing the most sublime music from this Japanese series; she even came to my house to rehearse and practice with my wife, who served as her vocal coach. It was amazing to see the magic of my childhood coming to life professionally right in my own living room—I even shed a few tears during one of those rehearsals—but I never imagined that this soprano would get me a couple of free tickets to the concert. It happened right around my birthday, and just when I had received—for the first time in my life—some Saint Seiya t-shirts (something I never even owned as a kid). I never bought them as an adult because I’m not an otaku, but now that I have them, I love them and realize what I’d been missing 😅. For the concert, I even got to choose which of the two shirts to wear ❤️

Casi me perdí este acontecimiento único e irrepetible. Lo anunciaron hace dos meses, y en ese momento no podía costearlo, pero ese no fue el problema, porque luego, cuando tuve el dinero entonces olvidé comprar las entradas por tanto trabajo que tuvimos en la coral en Mayo, nuestro mes aniversario. Para mí sorpresa, una de mis amigas en el coro fue la chica elegida para cantar la música más sublime de esta serie japonesa, y de hecho, ella llegó a ensayar y practicar en mi propia casa junto a mi esposa como coach vocal. Fue impresionante ver que la magia de mi infancia estaba siendo realidad a nivel profesional en mi propia sala, y hasta solté un par de lágrimas en uno de esos ensayos, pero jamás imaginé que esta soprano me conseguiría un par de entradas gratuitas para el concierto, justo la semana de mi cumpleaños y justo cuando por primera vez en la vida me regalaron unas franelas de Saint Seiya, porque ni siquiera de niño llegue a tenerlas. Nunca me las compré de adulto porque no soy otaku, pero ahora que las tengo las amo y entiendo lo que me perdí 😅 y para este concierto hasta tuve la oportunidad de elegir entre las dos que ahora tengo ❤️

I felt right at home when I arrived. For starters, I wasn't the only geek dressed as a Saint Seiya character; in fact, it was the trend 🤭—I was totally in style 😎. The gathering took place at Teatrex El Bosque—a beautiful, intimate theater in Caracas that I honestly hadn't known about before—and the event featured the Violeta Larez Symphony Orchestra, the very orchestra from the university where I study music. It was amazing to see familiar faces performing such powerful music, starting with the concertmaster. Although two of my favorite instrumental classics were missing, the concert included tracks like "Pegasus Fantasy," "Soldier Dream," "Sad Brothers," "Pegasus Ryu Sei Ken," "Blue Dream," "Chikyuugi," "Bell of Angelus Prayer," "Sanctuary Precept of Death," "Revenger Phoenix," "Beautiful Gold Saint," and "God Warrior vs. Saint," among others. The performance showcased a rich blend of symphonic instruments and popular music staples—such as electric guitars, bass, and drums. It was symphonic rock at its absolute best ❤️

Cuando llegué al lugar me sentí muy cómodo. Para iniciar, no fui el único friki vestido de Saint Seiya, de hecho, era lo que estaba de moda 🤭 yo estaba a la moda 😎 El encuentro fue en Teatrex El Bosque, un pequeño y hermoso teatro en Caracas que sinceramente no conocía y la orquesta encargada de llevar a cabo el evento era la Orquesta Sinfónica Violeta Larez, la orquesta de la universidad donde estudio música y lo mejor fue ver rostros parecidos tocando esta poderosa música, comenzando por el concertino. Aunque faltaron dos de mis clásicos instrumentales preferidos, en este concierto sonó música como Pegasus Fantasy, Soldier Dream, Sad Brothers, Pegasus Ryu Sei Ken, Blue Dream, Chikyuugi, Bell Of Angelus Prayer, Sanctuary Precept Of Death, Revenger Phonix, Beautiful Gold Saint y God Warrior vs. Saint, entre otros. Aquí se puede encontrar mucha combinación entre los instrumentos de orquesta sinfónica e instrumentos populares como guitarras y bajos eléctricos sumados a la batería. Es rock sinfónico en su máximo esplendor ❤️

As you can see in the 3Speak video and the photos in this post, the tickets Flor—the concert's sole vocalist, a fellow choir member, and a personal friend—secured for us were in the front row. Consequently, all my shots were close-ups; and although visuals from the series were being projected, at concerts like this, you only need to close your eyes to truly immerse yourself in the atmosphere. Flor moved us all to tears that night, as she performed the saddest, most emotionally stirring music for the fans. I am so grateful to her for providing us with such a high-quality experience, and I could see that same emotion reflected on the faces of other anime fans. I never imagined concerts like this would take place in this city, but this is instrumental music I’ve listened to for over 30 years—music that ignites a deep passion in me and, in fact, makes me love the professional field I work in today. I just hope it happens again; they mentioned they would hold a concert in my hometown, so I hope that turns out to be true and that I can be a part of it once more 🙏

Como pueden apreciar en el video formato 3Speak y en las fotografías de este post, las entradas que nos consiguió Flor, la única cantante de este concierto, colega de la coral y amiga personal fueron de primera fila. Así que todas las tomas que hice fueron en primer plano, y aunque estaban transmitiendo algunas imágenes de la serie, en este tipo de conciertos solo se necesita cerrar los ojos para entrar en ambiente. Flor nos hizo llorar a todos esa noche, ya que le tocó interpretar la música más triste y que mueve los sentimientos de los fans. Estoy tan agradecido con ella por brindarnos esta experiencia con un nivel tan alto, y en la caras de otros seguidores del animé se notaba la misma emoción. Nunca pensé que se realizarían conciertos de este tipo y en esta ciudad, pero es música instrumental que llevo escuchando más de 30 años y que despierta gran pasión en mí, de hecho me hace amar el campo laboral en el que me muevo en la actualidad. Solo espero que se repita, de hecho dijeron que lo harían en mi ciudad natal, espero sea verdad y espero volver a ser partícipe de ello 🙏
