My Actifit Report Card: October 11 2025
Hey Actifitters,
Our day started very late yesterday, I guess we all needed to sleep in, especially since we went to bed so late again. It's a good thing Kaia is used to our getting up late. We didn't want to start too fast either, so we first just hung out with Le Chat in the yard. She was in a surprisingly playful mood, with just a few dead leaves sufficient to entertain her.
As fun as it was to observe her, we needed a little more activity. But even with the weather forecast telling us it will stay dry and even turn sunny, I wasn't convinced after seeing these menacing dark clouds.
So I thought we'd start in the small forest and decide where to go depending on the weather.
There's already plenty of space for Kaia and Le Chat to explore.
Le Chat was still in that same mood, ready to pounce and prey on anything like the big cat predator she probably thinks she is. Kaia asked if she could play too, but apparently not this time.
Clouds were still menacing but we took the risk and headed to the bigger forest.
Once again, so many squirrels on the way, they are still completely obsessed with acorns and preparing for winter I guess. That first one was ready for a fight though, jumping in our direction and waving its tail. Not impressed by Kaia at all! But like I said in the past, lucky she was on leash!
And finally the forest! I realized we haven't seen it too often in bright daylight recently. It's very nice too!
Even better, I think the fall colors are slowly popping up a little more.
Including at one of my favorite spots there. By the way, can you see that blue in the sky? Yep, the forecast was correct.
Because we started so late, I was way behind schedule on my day, even though I hadn't planned much, except for a run. But we couldn't resist and we walked most of the trails, as we often do on weekends.
Look at all that blue by then! Always like that spot as well, with the contrasting greens.
The sun was actually quite bright by then.
Finally Kaia seemed like she had enough, so we got started on our way back home.
We were walking along the edge of the forest, on the street, when Kaia clearly indicated something was right there. I got worried because she was still off-leash. Yes, I know it's a bit careless, but it's like there's a switch in her head when we walk on the street, she just stays in heel position. And it's a good thing she did this time, because after I did put the leash back on her, I saw what she was reacting too: this cute little cat. I'm not sure we've already met this one in the forest, and even if we did, never so close. It was so focused on Kaia, it knew I wasn't the danger but she was. Instead of fleeing, it just looked at us passing by.
Kaia didn't look back after we passed it, and we finished our walk in the neighborhood. Remember the dark clouds in the beginning, that's how it looked when we got back near the last few blocks.
Perfect weather for espressos on the deck!
After some rest, a little Hiving and Blurting, it was already dark outside. But I just couldn't afford skipping my run again. So I broke out the night gear and went anyways. After a full week without running, I felt surprisingly well, and started at a pretty good pace. I did slow down after a while, but a little over 10km in about 52 minutes, it's not too bad. Of course, it's just about half the distance of the half marathon in Detroit next Sunday. But it's encouraging, especially with my Achilles that wasn't too painful. Hopefully a couple of last runs before mid-week, and it will be time to rest for the race.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.

Nice report, @manuvert!

I would love to have a bigger forest near my home. Love to spend time in it and breath the healthy air. But we have only a very small one here and it's pretty near to a big road.
Are Kaia and Le Chat friends? When my dog and cat were still alive they have been best buddies. Think it was because they grew up together. Greetz
Thanks!
Oh yeah, we really like our local forest, it's our daily escape. It's not that big, but Kaia can stay off-leash and except for a very few areas, it's far enough from any roads.
Yep, they're good friends. They understand they're part of the same pack. When I still had my other dog, an older half brother of Kaia, it was funny to see Le Chat prancing around with her two German Shepherd bodyguards!
Cute pets by the way.
Have an awesome new week ahead, !ALIVE

Cats are clever and cunning. They know how to handle two Shepherds (and their owners).

Wish you an awesome week also.
Ooohh I love slow days (like my Sunday -- only day when I could afford to sleep in a little more). 😜 Wow glad you managed a fun walk despite the dark clouds that appeared early on. Watching kitties play with dried leaves is fun. 😆 Some of the outdoor kitties do that too and I find it amusing. So lovely to see more fall colors are coming. Can't wait till all the leaves have turned. Happy new week ahead!

Yes, it's nice to slow down sometimes (or often...). Our sleeping in is probably different though, as it usually brings us directly to the afternoon...
It is !INDEED really fun to just watch pets or even squirrels play, often with just a branch or leaves. Enjoy the little things...
Hope you have a fantastic new week ahead, !ALIVE
