the nostalgia : September 22 2025

i have always been mesmerized by this metallic ball on the foot bridge near ueno station. it is out there under the elements and yet it remains shiny and sparkling. is this stainless steel? but it is quite a huge ball, about 2 meters in diameter. it must have cost a lot. until now, i still don't know the best way to capture an image of this ball, but so far this is the best up close picture. it totally captured how shiny that ball was despite how dark the sky was.

my housemate had other plans for tonight so i was left alone to have a nightwalk. well, the initial plan was just to have a quick walk to a grocery store to buy some skin care products. no major walk for today. but the path was quite nostalgic.

nah, it wasn't this woman who was nostalgic. it was nostalgic walking alone just keeping things to your self. it was nostalgic just listening to a pop music on one ear, humming just a bit when a familiar tune plays.

i finally got the chance to take a picture of a moving train with the train on focus. it is still a fail, zooming at night produces horribly grainy pictures. still so much room for improvement.

oh how i missed this park, it has been a while since i last came here at night. and it is quite refreshing to see children playing at this wide square. i would rather see children getting dirty and sweaty playing outdoors than having one all neat and tidy while engrossed in a cellphone game.

that sky also looked so nice. i'm just glad to have no rain today. this nightwalker is very happy.

this installation was on the same foot path with the metal ball earlier. they really love their installations, no plain and dull sight. it does make sense though, ueno has lots of museums for history, science, and the arts. they surely know lots of artists, they could easily commission someone to make pieces for them.

i also managed to take a picture of a person on the bike. it has been ages since the last time i took a picture of a man on bike. this route is definitely very nostalgic.

now here is one which i am really bewildered. it was my first time seeing this temple on my way back home. i have passed by here too many times and yet i only saw this once. i immediately thought that a gate probably blocks the view normally, but i could not see any gate frame at all. so it was always open to viewing. and yet, it was my first time seeing this view. is this a new construction? what an enigma.

i reached home still unsure of why. it was really but a quick walk, i hurried home for a scheduled gym session. i guess it was better to be alone this time or i would have taken more hours walking on this short path.

that lunchtime, i saw this flower and i immediately thought of the anime. do you know which one i was referring?
