Recovery Day 2 - diagnosis... my training diary entry from June 8 2026

(Here’s another nice shot from the weekend before last, perhaps an hour before we reached the Wendelsteinhaus.)
Hi Actifitters,
I had almost given up hope, but I was actually able to see my orthopedist yesterday morning. The receptionist hadn't sounded very optimistic during our initial call, saying she needed to check with the doctors to see if an appointment was even possible this week. She asked me to call back in an hour, and to my surprise, I was told to come in right away.
After two X-rays and two consultations with the doctor, I finally had my diagnosis after a good two hours. Contrary to what I had suspected, I had actually suffered a muscle strain. This is likely the cause of the pain, which has since become much more bearable. I can even sit for a few minutes again without it being overly uncomfortable. The doctor said I’ll probably be dealing with this strain for another three to four weeks.
The blockage I’ve had for several months in the area of my buttocks, hip, and thigh supposedly stems from two lumbar vertebrae. The doctor gave me injections in two spots and thinks this might resolve the issue. However, I’ll only believe that if it actually happens.
Now it’s a matter of being patient and listening to my body. I’ll have to see when and with which exercises I can start up again. I’m going to ease into it very gradually and keep testing what I’m capable of. Since I struggle to sit for long periods and my job is entirely desk-based, I’ve been signed off work until tomorrow. I’ll definitely take it completely easy until then.
So, today I’ll just stick to my 10,000 steps. Fortunately, that doesn’t hurt or feel uncomfortable at all, so why not at least get in that minimum amount of movement?
