It’s Raining, It’s Pouring ☔️……….My Actifit Report Card: November 1 2025

The Nooksack River on a sunnier day!

It’s has been a gully washer of a day! The rain began yesterday in earnest. My electronic rain gauge showed over 2” yesterday for the week. About 75% of that came yesterday. It reset sometime this morning-probably close to 8:00 AM. I say that because while on a Zoom meeting from 8-10 AM, I watched it climb to over an inch in just 2 hours! 😳 It rained so hard at times, I was surprised I didn’t see trees going by the window like boats! It was crazy! ☔️☔️☔️

Last Sunday, this is what the river looked like.

Today, it was a raging, rolling river of mud and debris! I couldn’t get a picture as I was driving, but all the rocks you see in Sunday’s picture- well suffice it to say there are no rocks! It was just churning water from trees on one side to the other!

Then, two hours later…..

An increase of 9”!

At 5 PM…….

An increase of almost one and a half feet! Keep in mind that flood stage is 83 feet.

The afternoon was spent at…..

There must have been a pumpkin decorating competition amongst the baristas.

Then it was off to Costco. We found a little bit bigger hot tub like ours on display.

I texted my coworker as she is considering one for her husband for his birthday/Christmas present. This one’s a little bigger than ours, but they are so much easier to manage chemically than the bigger ones and cheaper to run as well! 😎

For the moment, it’s let up on the rain. More rain is forecast for tomorrow, so we’ll see how that ends up. I’m sure the folks down in the valley are a mite nervous-and I don’t blame them! It makes me nervous for them! It smacks of the devastating flood from 2021.
