Sometimes, on some mornings I mean, the foggy streets of the village seem to conceal, for a few hours, the hardships, the sorrows, the anxieties, and even the fears. Because fog is simply good at disguising, and it has a certain romantic quality. It also has a certain kindness, the kind of kindness that gives hope to the seriously ill and allows poor children to imagine a bright and prosperous future where they can be pilots, footballers, or even diligent firefighters... Because, after all, it seems to me that here in this village we all like the fog, the morning fog, the dense kind that defies the truth revealed by the sunlight; Because that fog allows us to navigate our fantasies and a world of aspirations that are at least somewhat possible, where the cracks in the streets hide or disappear and the word "future" doesn't seem so illusory... Yes, the fog, at least here in Montalbán, has an effect on everyone's psyche, even mine, and I suppose that's why I try never to miss a foggy morning like this without giving myself the chance to go out and wander with my camera in hand...

Algunas veces, algunas mañanas digo, las calles del pueblo así con niebla, parecen ocultar durante algunas horas las carencias, los disgustos, las angustias e incluso los miedos. Porque la niebla simplemente es buena para disimular, y tiene algo de romance. También algo de bondad, de ese tipo de bondad que hace que los enfermos graves tengan esperanzas y los niños pobres imaginen un futuro grande y próspero en donde pueden ser pilotos, futbolistas o inclusos diligentes bomberos... Porque, al fin y al cabo, me parece que aquí en este pueblo a todos nos gusta la niebla, la de las mañanas, esa que es densa y desafía la verdad que la luz del sol revela; porque esa niebla nos permite navegar en nuestras fantasías y en un mundo de aspiraciones cuando menos un poco posibles, en donde las grietas de las calles se esconden o desaparecen y la palabra futuro no parezca tan ilusoria... Sí, la niebla, cuando menos aquí en Montalbán, tiene un efecto en la psiquis de todos, incluso en la mía, y supongo que a eso se debe el que procuro nunca perderme una mañana con niebla así, sin darme a mi mismo la oportunidad de salir a deambular con mi cámara en la mano...
