Today I woke up really bored... I didn't feel like going out to take pictures in the street or in the countryside and I had the urge to do something relaxing but sitting down.... Besides, I woke up at 4:00 AM... I need to do something until normal people wake up around me!...

Hoy desperté francamente aburrido... Sin ganas de salir a hacer fotos a la calle o al campo y con la imperiosa necesidad de ponerme a hacer algo que me resultase relajante pero sentado... Además, desperté a las 4:00 AM... ¡Necesito ponerme a hacer algo hasta que la personas normales despierten a mi alrededor!...

So I went to my little office and turned on my PC... I selected eight pictures I have edited during this year (I keep them in directories sorted by day/month) and decided to do something I have always wanted to do but never did: "Transform them with image editors (filters, brushes, alterations, etc.)"... These are the photos I selected for that:

Así que me fui hasta mi pequeña oficina y encendí mi PC... Seleccione ocho fotografías que he editado durante este año (las guaro den directorios ordenados por día/mes) y decidí a hacer algo que siempre he querido hacer pero nunca había hecho: "Transformarlas con editores de imágenes (filtros, pinceles, alteraciones, etc.)"... Estas son las fotos que seleccioné para eso:

As you can see, the photos are very different from each other, because my goal was to experiment with different types of images to find out which ones are best suited to my experiment of photo transformation... I decided to start from the images already converted to JPG, even some of them I have already shared in my previous #Hive posts, but the idea is to convert them into something "very different" from what they are in their base form.

Como pueden apreciar, son fotos muy distintas entre sí, pues mi objetivo fue experimentar con distintos tipos de imágenes para saber cuales se adaptan mejor a mi experimento de foto transformación... Decidí partir de las imágenes ya convertidas a JPG, incluso algunas de ellas ya las he compartido en mis post previos de #Hive, pero la idea es convertirla en algo "muy distinto" de lo que son en su forma base.

I started with the photo of the orchid a few minutes before 5 AM (after drinking a coffee and eating a small biscuit)... I loaded this photo into Photoshop and started looking through the filters until I chose the one that says "Blend"... For fuck's sake... How come I hadn't thought of doing this before... It's like doing mandalas or yoga, what do I know... I could easily get addicted to this!

Comencé con la foto de la orquídea pocos minutos antes de las 5 AM (después de tomarme un café y comer un pequeño bizcocho)... Cargué esta foto en Photoshop y comencé a buscar en los filtros hasta optar por el que dice "Licuar"... ¡Por todos los cielos, carajo!... ¿Como es que no se me había ocurrido hacer esto antes?... ¡Es como ponerse a hacer mándalas o yoga, que sé yo!... ¡Puedo fácilmente hacerme adicto a esto!

Then I took the small mushrooms I had photographed and posted this week and "melted them indiscriminately and at will".... I also used the "Oil Painting" filters... Damn, look how late I've been to using Photoshop filters and other editors!..

Luego tomé los pequeños hongos que había fotografiado y posteado esta semana y "los derretí indiscriminadamente y a placer"... También usé los filtros de "Pintura al oleo"... ¡Carajo, mira que he llegado tarde a usar los filtros de Photoshop y otros editores!...

Among my "cocktail of mental disturbances" is also that of being "obsessive compulsive" (sometimes my wife simply wants to fry me with a flamethrower, but so far she has refrained quite efficiently).... So as soon as I was editing the third photo I started to do some cropping, over-positioning, interleaving and even some "cubist delirium" all with the basic tools of cropping, layering and transparency...

Entre mi "cóctel de disturbios mentales" también esta el de ser "obsesivo compulsivo" (a veces mi esposa quiere simplemente, freírme con un lanzallamas, pero hasta ahora se ha abstenido de forma bastante eficiente)... Así que apenas editando la tercera foto comencé a hacer recortes, sobre-posiciones, intercalados y hasta algo de "delirio cubista" todo con las herramientas básicas de recorte, capas y transparencias...

Oh... "The child in time"... Altering this photo I felt like a little (and infinitely less talented) Van Gogh in a South American Third World village, delirious among his digital brushstrokes before the dawn of a new Sunday day (that sounded poetic, I think, eh?)...

Oh... ¡El niño en el tiempo!... Alterando esta foto me he sentido como un pequeño (e infinitamente menos talentoso) Van Gogh en un pueblo tercermundista suramericano, delirando entre sus pinceladas digitales antes del alba de un nuevo día Domingo (eso sonó poético, me parece, ¿eh?)...

My father used to paint using oils, chalk pastels and even pencil and charcoal.... He also used to take me to exhibitions and to visit many of his artist friends, but instead of learning to paint with them, I learned to get drunk and smoke... heh heh heh.... But I was never good at painting or drawing, I have to admit that!.... So you can say that I am a sort of "frustrated painter".... Maybe that's why I'm sitting here playing with my photos and image editing tools...

Mi padre solía pintar usando oleos, tiza pastel e incluso a lápiz y carbón... También solía llevarme a exposiciones y a visitar a muchos de sus amigos artistas, pero en lugar de aprender a pintar con ellos, yo aprendí a emborracharme y a fumar... je je je... ¡Pero nunca fui bueno pintando ni dibujando, tengo que reconocer eso!... A few weeks ago I tried a couple of AI apps for drawing on my cell phone, but after some interesting results I got bored quickly.... It seems I'm not good at writing to an algorithm what things I want it to draw either!.... But I think that experience has helped me to think for the first time about altering the pictures I take using Photoshop, GIMP and PhotoScape... This may not be art per se, but I found it very relaxing to do it and I'm happy looking at the results... That's precisely why I wanted to share them...

Algunas semanas atrás probé un par de aplicaciones IA para dibujar en mi teléfono móvil, pero después de algunos resultados interesantes me aburrí rápidamente... ¡Parece que tampoco soy bueno escribiéndole a un algoritmo que cosas quiero que dibuje!... Pero creo que esa experiencia me ha servido para pensar por primera vez en alterar las fotografías que hago usando Photoshop, GIMP y PhotoScape...Puede que esto no sea arte propiamente, pero me ha resultado muy relajante hacerlo y estoy alegre mirando los resultados... Precisamente por eso he querido compartirlos...

For heaven's sake... If my beloved kitty "Mia" ever sees how I transformed her, she'll kill me!... Ha ha ha... I liked the ability to use the blending and rotating brushes because they are something that I can manage and use as a tool, not as a layer of filters that you put on and that's it, but these allow me to transform the shapes at will...

Por todos los cielos... ¡Si mi amada gatita "Mia" llegase a ver como la he transformado, me matará!... Ha ha ha... Me ha gustado la posibilidad de usar los pinceles de licuado y rotación porque son algo que puedo gestionar y usar como una herramienta, no como una capa de filtro que se pone y ya, sino que estos me permiten transformar las formas a placer...

I've been from a little before 5AM to 9AM transforming these eight photos, so on average I've spent about 30 minutes on each photo... So this seems like a relatively simple thing, but it's given me a chance to take a first look. I spend transforming my photos in the most empirical way possible (I love to evade manuals, tips, recommendations and the like, that's why I usually do things from scratch and alone, hitting myself with everything and in the most difficult way)... But it's just as I usually have fun!... So I think I'll keep doing this from time to time...

He estado desde un poco antes de las 5AM hasta las 9AM transformando estas ocho fotos, así que en promedio he invertido unos 30 minutos en cada fotos... Así que esto parece algo relativamente sencillo, pero me ha dado la oportunidad de dar un primer paso transformando mis fotos de la manera más empírica posible (amo evadir manuales, consejos, recomendaciones y cosas similares, por eso suelo hacer las cosas desde cero y solo, dándome porrazos con todo y de la manera más difícil)... ¡Pero es así como suelo divertirme!... Así que creo que seguiré haciendo esto de vez en cuando...

After finishing editing, I still had some "chronic boredom" left to make these fun little "cards" featuring the original photo and the digitally altered image... Wow, my digital artist pretenses have suddenly grown! ... ha ha ha

Después de terminar con la edición, todavía me restaba algo de "aburrimiento crónico" como para hacer estas divertidas "tarjetitas" en donde aparece la foto original y la imagen alterada digitalmente... ¡Carajo, mis ínfulas de artista digital han crecido repentinamente!... ha ha ha

It's almost 11 AM, my neighbor has decided that Sunday is a good day to wash her dirty clothes and her damn washing machine sounds like it has a diesel engine installed!... Why the hell hasn't she sent that thing to be repaired? ... Well, anyway, I need to eat something too!... That little cake and the 4 AM coffee seem like a very distant memory!...

Son casi las 11 AM, mi vecina ha decidido que el Domingo es un buen día para lavar su ropa sucia y su maldita lavadora suena como si tuviese instalado un motor diesel... ¿Porqué demonios no habrá mandado a reparar ese traste?... Bueno, de la manera que sea ¡También necesito comer algo!... Aquel pequeño bizcocho y el café de las 4 AM me parecen un recuerdo muy lejano!..
