In rivers and lakes, you can see some very interesting insects dancing, just like Jesus Christ, walking on water.

This insect is known as the water weaver or water shoemaker. They can walk on water thanks to the high surface tension of water and the small hydrophobic hairs that cover their legs. This allows them to float and glide without breaking the water's surface.

They are predators and scavengers. They feed primarily on small insects and other invertebrates that fall and become trapped on the water's surface. They use their front legs to grab their prey and then suck out its internal fluids.

This insect is found in the Quintero ravine in El Ávila, and I recently captured it on an outing with my family.

En los rios y lagos se pueden ver dansando algunos insectos muy interesantes que tal como si fueran jesucristo camina sobre el agua

Este insecto es el llamado zapatero o tejedor de agua., pueden caminar sobre el agua gracias a la alta tensión superficial del agua y a las pequeñas vellosidades hidrofóbicas que cubren sus patas. Esto les permite flotar y deslizarse sin romper la superficie del agua.

Son depredadores y carroñeros. Se alimentan principalmente de pequeños insectos y otros invertebrados que caen y quedan atrapados en la superficie del agua. Usan sus patas delanteras para agarrar a la presa y luego succionan sus fluidos internos.

Este insecto esta en la quebrada quintero en el avila y lo capte recientemente en una salida con mi familia.
