Animal Photography: domesticated animals of Zanzibar

(Edited)

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

I have already showed you some wildlife of Zanzibar in this post and I´m still yet to prepare the long overdue post about the one and only national park on the island but before I get to make that one, I just wanted to show you some domesticated animals that you can encounter on this amazing Tanzanian archipelago.

The locals obviously have some very special bonds with their domesticated animals. This was actually the very first time that we saw so many different animals from dogs and cats to cows, bulls, goats, geese, ducks etc. just casually roaming around the streets of the towns and villages and even on the beaches. They seemed to roam completely free (and eat what they want :D) without any supervision. In fact, it was even impossible to find out who their owners were :D

The animals looked very relaxed and they were not bothered by me and my camera at all. I think with the bigger cows and bulls, I was actually more scared of them than they were of me :D But enough talking (writing). Let´s take a look at some of the pictures of the domesticated animals that I captured on the Unguja Island, Zanzibar, Tanzania.

I hope you enjoyed the photos. As I already mentioned, it was a very new and unusual experience for me. We do have domesticated animals here in my country too of course and if you head out to the Czech countryside, you can easily come across herds of cows, sheep or goats but they usually graze in fenced pasture lands and there is someone checking them out and taking care of them. The Zanzibar animals, on the other hand, seem to have absolute freedom, which is actually very nice.

So that´s it for today. Next time, hopefully, we will explore the national park that is home to the wild creatures ;) Until then... Hakuna Matata! :)

EDIT: I´m sorry about posting this post to a wrong community. I would swear I picked the Photography Lovers community for it but it somehow ended up in the Loving Hive community :( I´m not a fan of cross posting though so this post will only stay in the Loving Hive community, unfortunately. Sorry guys!

As free as one can be :) If cows from my country saw that, they would be jealous :D :/

I think because there is a natural life, animals also go with it. Your photos show that people and animal live together in peace.

Perhaps, there are not many people around, thus natives have contacted with animal much more than normal :)

Yeah, they seemed to be in a good shape, although some appeared to be a bit too slim. But being so free, they should be able to eat something anytime they want, at least the cattle :) Thanks for checking out the photos, although I posted them in a wrong community :/

Yeah, but the post was still muted and it looks bad on my blog :( I would like to say that it was my mistake but I´m 100% sure I picked the right community when posting the post trough hive.blog, it must have been some kind of bug... Whatever, glad to see that people still find this post and like the pictures ;)

It must be bug that caused this but worry not, it's one of those things that happens once in a while which we don't have control over it.
It's a good thing that people still found the post.
Lovely weekend to you

The animals most likely feel at home and at peace in this environment. Hence symbiotic living with the human dwellers is natural and easy for them. The animals do not look unkempt - so that says a lot. Great photos as always.

Great shots, @phortun. One thing that stands out to me is the way locals and animals live together peacefully, reminding me so much of the village where I grew up :)

Then you grew up in a beautiful environment ;) Actually, I was thinking of you today Trang! I was in Sapa, the Vietnamese center / neighborhood here in Prague that is known as " Little Prague Hanoi" :) We sometimes go there to buy Vietnamese / Asian food that is not available in regular supermarkets. It´s a really cool place and I would love to know how would you feel about it :)

I would freak out to see so many animals roaming around freely. As you say, we have herds free but not on the streets. Dogs are a danger. I'm feeling safe where I live as no stray dogs roaming around but there are places where people were killed by stray dogs.

Different culture I think.

Nice shots by the way.

Interesting point about stray dogs. I have met a lot of them on my travels and while most of these encounters were nice and positive, I did experience some uncomfortable moments too. Usually, stray dogs that live on streets and are in daily contact with people, are cool and friendly. It´s the wild packs outside the towns that attack those that they perceive as intruders in their territory.

Btw sorry for the muted comment, seems that since the mods of the Loving Hive community muted this post, all comments that came after that are automatically muted too :/ There must have been some kind of bug on hive.blog when I was posting this post as I´m 100% sure I picked the Photography Lovers community for it...

I assumed it is still unpopulated place where domestic animals are free to roam around like those in your photos. It's good to see real settings of places. Dogs were relaxed even at your presence. They must have welcomed you. Nice shoots!

Well, not exactly unpopulated, the archipelago is home to some 800,000 people :) But yeah, the animals seem to live in this beautiful peace and harmony with the locals. The beach dogs were such cuties... Thanks for checking out the pictures!

Ja by som pravdepodobne stravila cely den so zvieratami 😂

Super fotky!

Asi zrovna nějaký bug, co už nadělám no...

Take veci sa mozu stat a ludia to pochopia.

Hey guys @rutablockchain, @enmy and @danielvehe. Sorry for tagging you all but I don´t know who exactly muted this post. First of all, thank you for your contribution to Hive and for running the Loving Hive community. It´s a great community and I sometimes post and engage there too. Now I totally get why you muted this post. It´s a photography post and I meant to post it in the Photography Lovers community, which I actually did (I pressed that button when posting this post through hive.blog) but it somehow ended up in the Loving Hive community. I don´t understand why but I´m really sorry about it and I understand that you muted this post. But I was wondering if you could unmute it after a couple of days when it will already be buried under newer posts and thus not visible? That would really mean a lot to me as I always try to keep my blog neat and organized and this muted post kind of ruined it. Many thanks for your consideration. Greetings from Prague.
