At a Pointillism exhibition / En una exposición de Puntillismo

A few weeks ago, a friend invited me to the arts and crafts school where she had taken a painting workshop. That day, the students were exhibiting the work they had created after completing the basic level of Pointillism.

Hace unas semanas, una amiga me invitó a la escuela de artes y oficios donde había hecho un taller de pintura. Ese día los estudiantes estaban exhibiendo los trabajos realizados luego de terminar el nivel básico de Puntillismo.

I was told that this artistic technique, which uses small dots of color to create figures, landscapes, and so on, originated in France. There, in the 1880s, it was popularized by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac.

Esta técnica artística que utiliza pequeños puntos de colores para formar figuras, paisajes, etc., proviene de Francia, me comentaron. Allí, en la década de 1880 fue popularizada por Georges Seurat y Paul Signac.

My friend created several pieces during this workshop, some of which featured cats, she has several at home 😻. I thought that for a beginner’s level, the paintings on display were quite well executed.

She told me that in this workshop, in addition to learning the Pointillism technique, they also worked with recycled materials, which is why these paintings were created on materials such as boards or scraps of discarded wood, cardboard, damaged CDs, etc.

Me dijo que en este taller, aparte de aprender la técnica del Puntillismo, también trabajaron con el reciclaje, por eso estas pinturas fueron hechas sobre materiales como tablas o pedazos de maderas descartadas, cartones, CD's dañados, etc.

As you can see, the themes of the works on display are very diverse, there were no limits to creativity. Although I had seen this type of painting before, I didn’t know much about Pointillism and its history. That’s one of the best parts of attending this kind of event: your mind expands.

Como pueden ver, la temática de las obras expuestas es muy variada, no había límites para la creatividad. Aunque ya había visto este tipo de pinturas antes, no sabía mucho sobre el Puntillismo y su historia. Esa es una de las mejores cosas de asistir a este tipo de eventos: tu mente se expande.

In addition to the basic Pointillism works, there were a few other items on display in the room, such as drawings in other styles and pieces created using the faux leather technique on bottles and small boxes.

Además de las obras del nivel básico de Puntillismo, en la sala había algunas cosas más expuestas, como dibujos de otros estilos y también trabajos como la técnica de falso cuero sobre botellas y pequeñas cajas.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive

They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years

So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
