You are walking down the street, it's a little after 6 o'clock in the evening? It's Monday, the week has just begun. It's winter but you live in a tropical country, so you only know two measures of temperature: the first, humid heat. The second one; less heat and some cool breeze... The traffic of public transportation, motorcycles and private cars is thinning the already polluted city air. It is rush hour, which is immediately equal to passing together with dozens of strangers, who also repeat similar issues with you, minutes of a day that is dying. Your cell phone doesn't stop notifying you: WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, etc.... You have reached your destination, finally; before you get home you stop, and start this post....
The context of the previous paragraph, is the simplified chronicle of a day at work and how it feels to live it from Monday to Saturday. Maybe I have omitted some details, but it is clearly a reflection of the life of any average worker, at least here in Latin America. Now, why have I done so? Simple, it is my own confession that gives meaning to the photographs that illustrate this post. In other words, it is what I myself experienced a few hours ago (I am writing on a Tuesday, and what I am describing happened a day ago). This simple fact is one of the circumstances that most stress me.
You see, I'm not very good at enduring (tolerating, in fact) the repetitions (typical of the routines). What have I done to improve and not collapse emotionally? Apply small changes. First of all, to stay a couple of bus stops before the one I'm supposed to do. Well, to enjoy the small pleasures that give meaning to my life. A coffee in a quiet place, just when the evening falls and I can sigh in peace before arriving home. Other times, it happens to me that I don't buy or consume anything; I just enjoy the meters between the place where I decide to stay and the front of my home.

It is no secret to admit, as adults, that we have been raised to tolerate (too much, is my perspective) routine. Then, we ask ourselves, "Why do I feel so depressed and listless?" Well, it couldn't be any other way.... The responsibilities and characteristics of adulthood, whether you are a parent or not, can be hard enough to add a passivity that doesn't add up to anything in our lives. .... I will say it clearly: it is not healthy, nor advisable to accept that life, according to certain days, has (as if it were an unwritten law of life) to be bitter, frustrating and sad?
Because let's face it, who in their right mind goes around saying: "Oh, how wonderful to spend 6 out of 7 days a week, 10+ hours, working for someone else; for crumbs of what I produce", hahaha, sorry but that doesn't happen.... The vast majority of all of us; if we do it (work) it is to alleviate the need to be adults. The least we can do for our mental health and well-being is to pamper ourselves. It's not every day that we can do something that will change our lives forever; but small (subtle) changes to our already boring routine make a difference.
In my case, it's eating something that will always make me happy. Like a slice of vanilla and chocolate cake; having a pineapple smoothie with lots of crushed ice; or even taking 3 monochromatic pictures. Enough to reflect what I have tried to describe here. A reflection of a normal, ordinary day. My life, is possibly, the life that many people live. I don't come here to tell you what to do and what not to do, just to show you a window to joy and pleasure. A mime to break with the repetitive and gray of monotonous life. I like (even) to think that it is also an act of pure humanism in the face of the automatism of our days. Cheer up, break your own routine.

The photographs you see in this post were taken by me; they are of my authorship as well as the reflection. I hope you liked it; and I hope you will be happy and brave most of your days.
Good and very good for the mental health
Essential, i'd like to think, mate! If we not able to appreciate our own pleasures it is impossible to reach joy. Thank for stopping by, friend.
I liked your words, enjoy the simple things, what we have at hand every day, and that many times we overlook....
Exactly... There's no need to add more unpleasant stuff into our lives. Thank you for stopping by, my friend.
