A day and an island to remember
A little over four years ago, it would be the last time I went to a beach, specifically Isla Larga in Carabobo State, Venezuela. It was also the first time I had visited the island, despite having lived in Carabobo State for many years. I've never really been a beach lover. I usually prefer going to rivers. But that day was very special because it was my wife's birthday, and the family decided to go to this heavenly place.
Although I don't like beaches, it is undoubtedly a very beautiful place and also tells a story about the country. It was also very important to share it with my family on a very special day for my wife, who loves beaches, and who couldn't love seeing this view among clear waters and an eternally blue sky.
Long Island is a small islet located about 20 minutes from the mainland, within the jurisdiction of the city of Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State, Venezuela. This city is known for its beaches and a bit of history, as can be found on this island where a sunken Nazi ship resides. Who would imagine that a Nazi ship from World War II would have ended up in these waters? It was impressive for me to learn about this history, and even more so that day to be able to see it with my own eyes, although it's no longer as clear because the passage of time has almost disappeared.
That day was a bit of that journey and harmony shared with family. We were able to spend almost a full day relaxing before these calm waters with a beautiful view of the endless horizon. We were also able to eat some typical local foods, and at the same time, walk, talk, and take lots of photos. This is how I have a whole folder with many photos of those memorable days and many memories. We then returned to the city of Valencia, feeling nostalgic for having been in that beautiful place. Now that more than four years have passed, I would like to visit this place again. I hope to return with my wife to enjoy the gifts of nature.
Something that really caught my attention about this place was the impressive birdlife, including some pelicans that practically perched next to one, which allowed me to take some great photos of them, as well as other species that spend the night on the island, perfectly in harmony with the surroundings. That day was a very pleasant and wonderful experience that I remember as if it were yesterday.
All photographs are my own.
