Our Day at Playuela Cay

Today is #TBT Thursday! The perfect time to remember the special moments that influence our lives and personalities. Traveling always leaves us with many emotions and lessons learned, especially if you do it with family or friends, and above all when we discover a new place. This is the case with my post today, which recounts my experience at Cayo Playuela in Morrocoy National Park in Falcón State, Venezuela.

¡Hoy es Jueves de #TBT!. Momento perfecto para recordar los momentos especiales que influyen en nuestra vida y nuestra personalidad. Viajar siempre nos deja muchas emociones y aprendizajes, especialmente si lo haces en familia o con amigos, y sobre todo cuando conocemos un lugar nuevo. Este es el caso de mi post de hoy, y es que esta fue mi experiencia en el Cayo Playuela del Parque Nacional Morrocoy en el Estado Falcón de Venezuela.

As I mentioned in a previous post, to visit this and other keys, we had to overcome our fear of getting on a boat; the only thing new for me is my new mindset of not wanting to get sunburned. As a child, I used to swim in the smallest swimwear on the market, but as the years go by, I hardly care what I wear anymore. If it were up to me, I could even go into the sea wearing shoes 🤣 I think it was a wise decision, as I spent the whole month of August visiting beaches and I can say that, for the first time, I am not suffering the consequences of sunburn in the days after the trip.

Como dije en un post anterior, para visitar este y otros cayos hemos tenido que superar nuestros miedos a subirnos a una lancha; lo único nuevo para mí es mi nuevo pensamiento de no querer quemarme con el sol. De niño me bañaba con la ropa de baño más pequeña del mercado, pero mientras más pasan los años ya casi no me importa lo que uso, si es por mí podría entrar al mar hasta con zapatos 🤣 Creo que ha sido una sabia decisión, ya que pasé todo el mes de Agosto visitando playas y puedo decir que por primera vez no sufro las consecuencias de las quemaduras los días después del viaje.

That day we met someone new who traveled with us, María's boyfriend, one of our original friends from those first rehearsals in Maracay back in 2009. Before, it was unthinkable for me to go traveling with people I didn't know, but with age, that has changed. It's always good to meet new people, especially when they have good vibes, and besides, our friend deserves someone special because she is a great woman. I think there's no better place to connect with people than the beach, where many bring out the best in themselves and just want to have a good time.

Ese día conocimos a alguien nuevo que viajó con nosotros, el novio de María, una de nuestras amigas originales desde aquellos primeros ensayos en Maracay por allá en el 2009. Antes era impensable para mí salir a viajar con gente que no conocía, pero con la edad es algo que se me ha ido pasando, siempre es bueno conocer personas nuevas, especialmente cuando tienen buena vibra, además de que nuestra amiga se merece alguien especial, porque es una gran mujer. Creo que no hay mejor sitio para conectar con la gente que la playa, ahí muchos sacan lo mejor de sí y solo pretenden pasarla bien.

I think the best part of the trip was really getting to know a new place for almost everyone, since only the guy we were meeting knew this cay. We didn't need much to travel, we just brought some food and liquor, but we didn't drink much on the beach because the water was so clean, beautiful, and calm that it was perfect for talking and catching up on so many stories. The more years that pass, the more difficult these gatherings become, but when they happen, it's as if time has stood still. I hope you enjoyed this memory. It's recent, but it's a moment that is definitely unique in my life, and I will always treasure it in my heart as one of the best trips of 2025 ❤️

Creo que lo mejor del viaje fue conocer realmente un lugar nuevo para casi todos, y es que solo el chico que estábamos conociendo conocía este cayo. No necesitamos mucho para viajar, solo llevamos algo para comer y licor, sin embargo no tomamos mucho en la playa, ya que el agua estaba tan limpia, hermosa y calmada que se prestaba para hablar, ponernos al día de tantos cuentos pendientes, y es que mientras más años pasan se hacen más difíciles estos encuentros, pero cuando llegan es como si el tiempo no hubiera pasado. Espero les haya gustado este recuerdo, es reciente, pero es un momento que definitivamente es único en mi vida, y siempre lo atesoraré en mi corazón como uno de los mejores viajes de 2025 ❤️
