Walks on an island
Thursday began to feel increasingly pleasant and expected for me. It's happening because of the topics we write about, especially those of us who need a little help in choosing what to write about. Communities are habit-forming and addictive, at least for me.
Thursday is the day when I start to get used to writing about the past, whether it's my distant or more recent past, and the memories that usually accompany it, often pleasant ones. As I have more memories than future projects, it is obvious why I will tell more and more about the good days I lived. Travel, especially to the sea, is my favorite.
Today, I will continue with memories from my first trip to Greece, on the island of Thassos, in September 2017.
It may seem strange, but my seaside vacations are, first of all, long and permanent walks. More than sunbathing and swimming in the sea.
Today, more about the long walks on the island.
The hotel where we stayed on all our Thassos vacations was not by the sea or close to the beach—a pecuniary advantage, as it was cheaper than the others. An even greater advantage was that it was situated on the outskirts of Limenaria, adjacent to a pine forest.
Every journey or walk has two ends, the one you started from,
And the one you reach, or, in this case, the direction of travel.
The pleasure of the walk was the coolness and shade of the forest in the first part.

The first stop is an old church, situated next to an olive orchard.
An island is a country in miniature, and we found in this small area the characteristic elements of Greece: faith, olive trees, and the sea.
I insisted on seeing pictures of the olive grove because, for me, this was something new and unfamiliar. In Romania, there are no such trees that do not withstand harsh winter conditions. The method of protecting the trees is novel, and unfortunately, I am unsure of its purpose.
When I'm at the seaside, I mostly walk, but I can't ignore the sea, which is a great passion of mine. A passion that I celebrate by going for walks, because my health and age no longer allow me to stay on the beach and in the sun. Against the sun, I need the most protection from. But nothing can stop me from looking at the sea and smelling its salty odor in such a pleasant breeze.
Now, when I look at these photos, the memories overwhelm me and I have the same feeling as when I first stepped on the island, when I could practically touch the stony ground and the warmth of the sun, the abundant vegetation, and the turquoise blue water. My first contact with the Mediterranean relief and climate. I thought it couldn't exist, and I was lucky enough to arrive in Thassos and convince myself that it did!
Trees and flowers!
So ends another Thursday, after a great browsing through the photos from our first trip to Greece, on the island of Thassos.
Gosh, how many are left! It will be hard to choose for next Thursday's memory.
I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.
I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words.
I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to overjudge the text and to focus on the photos.
A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so..
It depends on the viewer.
Eight years have passed since your trip, what beautiful memories you have, I liked the vegetation for its beautiful trees and flowers that beautify the place. The sea is captivating to see it gives a peace.
Eight years have already passed, and I can't forget this trip. Thank you!
The sightseeing from the olive trees reminds me that of Mytilene. Thasos is close to Kavala amd the price of ferry to there is not much. An alternative holiday destination for me, at least in any weekend ;)
We passed through Kavala and went to the ferry from Keramoti, which I think is closer to Thassos.
Greetings. What a beauty Greece is. Walking around there is a visual spectacle, I think with just the sight alone, one should feel satisfied. Nice souvenir.
Thank you! Greece is wonderful, it is.

Also the communities are addictive for me and very much, that walk with so much freshness between the olive trees I love it, it has been a great trip to Greece, I loved the tour!
Thank you! Indeed, it was a fantastic trip that I will never forget... and you won't soon forget it either, because I'll be writing about it for a long time.
I'd love to hear more about the trip.... and the pictures!
Thanks!
I loved this memory. It feels so fresh under the olive trees, and the walk to the sea is very emotional. I dreamed last night I was in Greece.
Greetings!
Oh, how nice, thank you... The nicest compliment!
It's so far from Cuba to Greece, and I know there are problems in Cuba, but I hope you get to visit Greece. I didn't think I would make it to Greece, and the distance is not that far—about 700 km, a one-day drive. We don't know what the future holds, and I wish you some pleasant surprises!
