Dixon Lake - Escondido, CA [EN/PT-BR]

I'm back again with another lake!

Today I had to see a customer up in Escondido, so I decided to take my dji mini 2 with me. I knew today was my best shot to fly, as this weekend we will have a very rare weather event in Southern California, Hurricane Hillary will hit us. By the time it gets here it will be just a tropical storm, but it will still bring a lot of wind and rain. I heard these events are super rare, last time it happened was 1997, and before that 1939.

Before going to Escondido, I checked the map to see if there were any interesting places to fly my drone. As you have seen on my latest posts, I love flying over lakes, and Dixon Lake was just 7 minutes away from where I was going.

Like most lakes in SoCal, Dixon Lake is a man-made water reservoir, created with the construction of a dam. There is a camping area, a marina and a park. It's a great place for fishing or picnics. Swimming is not allowed. There are lots of hiking trails. The lake is 1000ft (330m) above sea level, and you will be able to see the city of Escondido, lower then the lake, in the background of some pictures. There is also a water treatment plant right next to the dam.

Estou de volta com mais um lago!

Hoje tive que visitar um cliente em Escondido, então decidi levar meu dji mini 2 comigo. Eu sabia que hoje era minha melhor chance de voar, pois neste fim de semana teremos um evento climático muito raro no Sul da Califórnia: o furacão Hillary nos atingirá. Quando ele chegar aqui, será apenas uma tempestade tropical, mas ainda assim trará muito vento e chuva. Ouvi dizer que esses eventos são muito raros, a última vez que isso aconteceu foi em 1997 e, antes disso, em 1939.

Antes de ir para Escondido, verifiquei o mapa para ver se havia algum lugar interessante para voar com meu drone. Como você viu nos meus últimos posts, eu adoro voar sobre lagos, e o Dixon Lake ficava a apenas 7 minutos de distância de onde eu estava indo.

Como a maioria dos lagos no Sul da California, o Dixon Lake é um reservatório de água artificial, criado com a construção de uma represa. Há uma área de camping, uma marina e um parque. É um ótimo lugar para pescar ou fazer piqueniques. Não é permitido nadar. E há muitas trilhas para fazer caminhadas. O lago está a 330 m acima do nível do mar e você poderá ver a cidade de Escondido, mais baixa que o lago, ao fundo de algumas fotos. Há também uma estação de tratamento de água bem próxima à represa.
