PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape - Portobello Road, London.

Hey everyone!

I trust you are all well.

Portobello Road is famous for it's quirky shops and the Sunday market, luckily the sun was out which was a nice bonus!

Starting from the north, there are quite a few new residential developments towering over the street.

Pigeons quickly got after the drone and were quite menacing as they swooped around so I had to pick my moments!

To the south, the end of the street is in the restricted zone that covers Hyde Park. Although the architecture is nice, most of the buildings near there are residential without many outstanding features.

On Sundays, the whole street becomes pedestrianised for a market that seems to attract the whole of London.
These (smaller) markets close to the half way point along the road and is a constant throughout the week.

The one thing I couldn't control on that day was the timings. As I arrived after 12 noon, the winding nature of the road meant that I was unable to capture the west side of the street whilst it was illuminated by the sun.

That meant that I was shooting into the sun instead so I had to experiment with the angles and played around in the edit to try and lighten the images.

If I could have spent the whole day there flying at different times I would have been able to achieve more consistent lighting of each building.

Either way I am happy with most of the images and I learned a lot!
This was the day that I found a new confidence in flying lower and getting close to the action - no one batted an eyelid!

Take care until the next time!

Nice to hear that no one batted an eyelid when flying your drone. It's always portrayed in the media as a hassle for many drone flyers.

Great shots btw I like the bird flock photo.

It could have been because there was a lot going on and other people to navigate! Random confrontation is inevitable unfortunately but we know we are allowed to be at a given location, within reason of course, so it's a good method of diffusing a situation.
