PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape - Pepys Park.
Hi everyone!
Back with another cityspace scene with Pepys Park in Deptford along the bank of the river.

Some old school blocks of flats with satisying parallel layouts / planning.

Lastly a birds eye view of Drakes Steps - as named after Sir Francis Drake by Queen Elizabeth I - after he returned from his three year, round the world 'voyage of discovery'. The mission was in fact a covert operation whereby five ships set sail to essentially plunder various Spanish and Portuguese ports in Europe and South America, ultimately leading to the Spanish retaliating with their armada.
Multiple battles were fought on land and sea as part of a war that lasted from 1585 to 1604 and only ended after a treaty was signed that favoured both nations. A cease fire was put in place and trade resumed. James I of England was recognised by the Spanish as King.
James eventually became King Of England after the passing of Queen Elizabeth I with no heir to the throne.

Views across the river to the Isle Of Dogs. Around this area, the most common boats seen on the water are just Uber and Thames Rocket experience boats.

Birds eye view of an old slipway from a bygone era. The docks were once used to receive newspaper from Finland and owned by News International which publishes The Times and The Sun. It is currently owned by a Hong Kong based investment company.

Next to the park is an unused area of land with a couple of warehouses that host pop up events. When I first saw it I thought it was quite a strange- empty area of London considering that high rises are popping up here there and everywhere! Upon researching the area, it has "safeguarded wharf status" which essentially means it is protected as ports and will not be given residential status.

Some tiny planets for the road!

Take care everyone!
