CCC's Street Art Contest #304 - Do you hear me?
Good afternoon, friends!
Welcome to another post in the Street Art community!
Interestingly, just over a year ago (separated by only a few days!), I shared in this community the work of an artist who has mastered the art of anamorphic art. He is well known in the municipality of Amadora, and it is precisely from that location that I am sharing yet another fantastic piece by Odeith here today.
Just this week, which ends today—more precisely, two days ago—with my destination being a spot near the Church of Amadora, and having arranged a time when there would certainly still be plenty of natural light, I realized I still had about fifteen minutes to spare before the scheduled time. A few months ago, and also on one of the car routes I usually take when returning from the Church of Amadora—but stopping first at the hypermarket before heading home—I had spotted a full-wall mural on a building. The motif and theme were more than appealing: a pair of headphones and a very colorful, strategically positioned butterfly.
However, until two days ago, I hadn’t been able to stop by there without taking a major detour—and while it was still light out. But on the 10th, I finally got the chance. Having taken only a small 200-meter detour from my usual route by car from home to the meeting point, I ended up parking the car very close by, so I didn’t have much of a chance to discover much more of what this neighborhood has to offer, beyond the fantastic piece of urban art displayed on the facade of a building very close to Amadora’s business district.
This piece is located on Rua Dr. Teixeira Coelho.
And you might ask, who was Dr. Teixeira Coelho, after whom this street is named? After some research, I found the following reference:
Born on June 7, 1853 (curiously, three days before I took the photograph, his birthday would have been celebrated). He earned his medical degree from the former Medical-Surgical School, where he taught between 1886 and 1911. He moved to the Faculty of Medicine in Lisbon and taught there between 1911 and 1923. He held many leadership positions in various nationally renowned medical societies. He was also a member of the National League Against Tuberculosis.
And now about our artist who designed and created this work of art... There is little more to say beyond what I have already mentioned in the other three posts I’ve made in this community about his other works. I’m leaving the links here so you can check out the artist’s other works that I’ve already shared.

And why are headphones so important? They’re an object that not only provides us with an environment tailored to our preferences—and usually by us. We choose the songs or the company we want to listen to at that moment. Headphones end up not only providing music, but also, in a way, adding color to our day. They influence our mood. How many of you have found yourselves in the situation of not being able to listen to that perfect song, just because you forgot such an important item? And they’re not just for playing sound. They end up shielding us from the noise around us that disturbs us.
And just like a butterfly emerging from its ugly, unappealing cocoon, so too does our mood, or our will... It transforms lives and carries dreams away quickly, almost instantly. Music represents an important part of my life. Along with photography, it’s one of my favorite hobbies.
Speaking of music, I have to start practicing guitar again. Since I left my parents’ house about 16 years ago, I’ve practically never touched my guitar… It’s a huge oversight, don’t you think?
I hope to find the courage to pick it up again soon!
Wish me good luck :)
