CCC's Street Art Contest # 259 - "Almeida Garrett" - Estúdio Altura (Pedro Peixe & Distante) - Amadora, Portugal [Eng-Pt]

Today I want to share something I see every time I take the train from the station near my house to Lisbon. When I'm not reading a book during the trip, and I'm listening to a podcast, for example, it's rare that my gaze doesn't fall on this mural, which is very close to the train line at Amadora station.
Yesterday, as I didn't have any high-quality material to share with this community, and as I was going for a short walk with my mother, we ended up going to the garden that is very close to this piece. And of course, I couldn't miss the opportunity to photograph it.
The sun, which was very strong at the time, didn't help much in capturing the details of the work, but it wasn't a bad record, let's face it.
This work was created in 2017 during a festival called “Conversas na Rua” (Conversations on the Street). This festival has been promoting public urban art in the city of Amadora since 2015. It features various forms of expression, such as painting, muralism, illustration, and even graffiti.
The work I am sharing with you today pays tribute to Almeida Garrett.
Who was Almeida Garrett? Well, I did a little research (source) so I wouldn't forget the most important points.
Born in 1799 in the city of Porto, he was a writer, playwright, and honorary Portuguese minister and secretary of state.
One of the greatest promoters and driving forces behind theater in Portugal. He proposed the construction and building of one of the most important theaters in the Portuguese capital—the Dona Maria II National Theater—as well as the creation of the Conservatory of Dramatic Art.
This work was carried out by the well-known duo “Estúdio Altura,” a project that encompasses everything from architecture to mural painting, as well as illustration and branding. The two artists, Pedro Peixe and Distante, met while painting illegally on the train line, and soon formed a “crew” and began to share work. This work is a fantastic example of that cooperation.

Hoje quero aqui partilhar um trabalho que eu vejo sempre que apanho o comboio na estação perto da minha casa para me deslocar a Lisboa. Quando durante a viagem, não estou a ler um livro, e estou por exemplo a ouvir um podcast, é rara a vez que o meu olhar não pare exactamente neste mural que está bem perto da linha do comboio, na estação da Amadora.
Ontem, como não tinha material de grande qualidade para poder aqui partilhar com esta comunidade, e como ia dar um pequeno passeio com a minha mãe, acabamos por ir até ao jardim que fica bem perto dessa peça. E claro que não poderia perder a oportunidade de fotografar a peça.
O sol, que estava bem forte nessa altura não ajudou muito a com mais detalhe os pormenores da obra, mas não ficou um registo muito mau, convenhamos.
Este trabalho foi realizado no ano de 2017 por altura da realização de um festival chamado "Conversas na Rua". Este festival é promove dentro do município da Amadora, e desde 2015, a arte urbana pública na cidade. E conta com várias expressões, como a pintura, muralismo, a ilustração ou mesmo o graffiti.
Esta obra que eu aqui hoje partilho com vocês, tem como tema a homenagem a Almeida Garrett.
E quem foi o Almeida Garrett? Pois bem, fui fazer uma pequena pesquisa (fonte), para não me esquecer dos pontos mais importantes.
Nascido em 1799 na cidade do Porto, foi um escritor, dramaturgo, e ministro e secretário do Estado honorário Português.
Um dos maiores impulsionados e dinamizadores do teatro em Portugal. Propôs a construção e edificação de um dos mais importantes Teatros da Capital Portuguesa - Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II, bem como a criação do Conservatório de Arte Dramática.
Este trabalho foi realizado pela dupla conhecida "Estúdio Altura" que é um projecto que embarca desde a arquitectura à pintura mural, bem como ilustração e branding. Os dois artistas, Pedro Peixe e Distante conheceram-se por entre pinturas ilegais na linha do comboio, e formaram logo uma "crew" e começaram a dividir trabalhos. Esta obra é um fantástico exemplo dessa cooperação.
