CCC’s Street ART Contest #271| Mural about "Daniel Dhers" |[ENG-ESP]
Hello, everyone! Today I'm joining the street mural contest. This mural is on a very busy street, where lots of people pass by on their way to the beach. In fact, I had passed by there several times, but I was always riding the bus or in a taxi! So, this time I said: I'm going to walk by so I can take pictures and share them with you. The man in the mural is Venezuelan cyclist Daniel Dhers, an Olympic medalist who has won many competitions. He came to the island in 2021 and toured Margarita with hundreds of cyclists. During that visit, he was painted in his honor by Norman_ars, a young graffiti artist who has not only colored much of the island with his murals, as well as many other cities in Venezuela, but has also taken his art to other parts of the world. Then Daniel returned to the island in 2024 to promote “sports tourism by bike.”
In this artwork, we see that, apart from the image of Daniel, smiling and wearing his helmet, there is the Venezuelan flag, the starting flag (the one with blue and white squares), part of the bicycle, and the letters UCI (acronym for the International Cycling Union). It also says “Pampatar-Isla de Margarita,” which is the city where the mural is located, and it indicates the dates October 2021 and November 2024 (last visit update). On the right, you can read the name “La Tiendita contigo.” This is a small place next to the mural and is a “RestoBar-Café” where they sell desserts, snacks, cocktails, coffee, and beers, which are exactly what you see in the drawings on the mural. The creation was an initiative of the shop, which sought the collaboration of the artist. Although it was closed when I visited, a passerby told me that the place opens after 2 p.m. and stays open until nighttime. At that time, they set up tables and sometimes feature bands that play on the street right in front of the large mural, transforming the place into a very lively atmosphere.

¡Hola a todos! Me sumo hoy al concurso de murales callejeros Este mural está en una calle súper movida, por donde pasa un montón de gente que van hacia la playa. De hecho, yo había pasado varias veces por ahí, ¡pero siempre iba montada en bus o en taxi! Así que, esta vez dije: voy a pasar caminando para poder tomarle fotos y compartirlas con ustedes.
Él del mural es el ciclista venezolano “Daniel Dhers”, un medallista olímpico que ha ganado muchas competencias. Él vino a la Isla como en el 2021 hizo un recorrido con cientos de ciclistas por toda Margarita y en esa visita fue pintado en su honor por "Norman_ars", un joven artista graffitero, que no solo se ha encargado de colorear gran parte de la Isla con sus murales y muchas otras ciudades en Venezuela, sino que también ha llevado su arte a otras partes del mundo. Luego, Daniel regresó a la isla en 2024 para promover el «turismo deportivo en bicicleta».
Sobre este arte, vemos, que aparte de la imagen de Daniel, sonriente y con su casco, tiene a la Bandera de Venezuela, el banderín de salida (ese de cuadros azules y blancos), parte de la bicicleta y la palabra UCI (siglas de la Unión Ciclista Internacional). También dice "Pampatar- Isla de Margarita", que es la ciudad donde está el mural , además indica las fechas octubre 2021 y noviembre 2024 (actualización de última visita) y a la derecha se lee el nombre de "La Tiendita contigo"; este es un pequeño local que está al lado del mural y es un "RestoBar-Café" donde venden postres, pasapalos, cócteles, café y cervezas, que son justo los dibujos que se ven allí en el mural. La creación fue una iniciativa del local, que buscó la colaboración del artista.Aunque estaba cerrado, a la hora que lo visité, una persona que pasaba me dijo que el lugar se activa después de las 2 de la tarde y hasta la noche, a esa hora sacan mesas y en ocasiones presentan bandas musicales que se ponen en la calle justo frente al gran mural, transformando el lugar en un ambiente muy animado.
