STREET ART #258 – Project 17 Walls are presenting 17 works based on UNs 17 sustainable goals nr. 7 and 8, Aarhus, Denmark

Also this week I continue with murals that are part of the project «17 Walls». These two murals are close to each other. As you can see, I am in the old quarter of Aarhus, called «Latinerkvaret». The most charming area of the city, I think. The walls are sometimes difficult to photograph. Some have a position between two buildings with only a narrow passage.

Those who are behind the project has had a purpose. They invited artists to paint mural that illustrate each of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in order to make the goals accessible to everyone. The founders have a belief about art being able to inspire in a way that words can't. Because the SDGs affects the intire globe, the founders had invited artist from different countries.

This painting is inspired by Global Goal nr.7 «Affordable and Clean Energy»

«The White Circle»
Artist: David de la Mano, Spain

A vision of a future where clean energy is something that will be available to all people. The ring of women connects them to each other in a network of roots. The fact that they are connected can be understood as a network of energy solutions that nourish each other. Fair and sustainable. The fact that the women are intertwined can also symbolize unity. There is also symbolism in the color choice. White is seen as a combination of all colors - unity and equality. In the image here, it should be understood as a collective and fair work to transition to a more sustainable energy. The women seem to be floating in the sky, which the blue color suggests. It is a color that gives peace of mind and hope.

The artist is David de la Mano, born in 1975. He is educated in visual arts and sculpture. He has been active with art in the public sphere since 1993. Known for his use of black and white, as well as minimalist silhouettes of people. He plays with light, shadows, shapes and contrasts and shows us a world where nature and people are connected. We can find his works in a number of countries from Taiwan to Europe, the United States and South America.

The next one is inspired by Global Goal nr.8 «Decent Work and Economic Growth»

«Leaning»
Artist: Millo, Italy

The artist has taken his inspiration from nature. It is in nature that we can find models that we can copy. It can also help us to understand how we can improve our own reality. A good example from nature is the bees. They are well structured. In the beehive we see that it is bustling with little lives. Then we see how the child (children) both take notes and observe. From the bees, we can learn how to create a sustainable economic solution.

The artist, who is known as Millo (Francesco Camillo Giorgino) is a street artist born in Italy in 1979. His works often depict black and white landscapes with lots of details. One of the most important components in his work is illusionism. His works often have a balance between minimalism and maximalism that is unique in the street art scene. Millo has participated in numerous street art festivals and art events all over the world. From Asia to Europe, North America and South America.
