Before Columbus and other Europeans arrived, the Americas had indigenous civilizations with fascinating cultures and many advancements that have been underestimated.

Despite the brutality of colonization, which decimated many of these local communities before the arrival of Europeans through fire and disease, some indigenous communities still survive in Venezuela today, preserving their culture and way of life.

The image shows a mural that pays homage to this Venezuelan community. Even though some may disagree, these communities were granted rights and the ability to elect their own leaders and have representation in the National Assembly, choosing them according to their customs. This may or may not have a real beneficial effect on improving these communities; that's something we can discuss separately. But at least this event served as recognition of their existence and the importance of having their opinions taken into account so they have a significant voice in deciding how resources and projects are managed in their community, and not just have decisions dictated from the capital.

América antes de que llegara colon y otros europeos tuvo sus civilizaciones indígenas que tuvieron una cultura muy interesante y muchos avances que han sido subestimadas.

A pesar de la ferocidad de la colonización y con fuego y enfermedades se diezmo a muchas de esas comunidades locales que estaban aquí antes de la llegada de los europeos, sin embargo aun hoy en día hay comunidades indígenas sobrevivientes en Venezuela que aun conservan su cultura y forma de vivir.

En la imagen se ve un mural donde se hace un homenaje a esta comunidad venezolana, que aun cuando algunos o muchos no estén de acuerdo, se le dio derechos a estas comunidades y la posibilidad de que elijan sus autoridades y tener representación en la asamblea nacional, eligiéndolas según sus costumbres. Esto puede o no tener un efecto beneficioso real de mejora en estas comunidades, esto es algo que se puede conversar aparte, pero al menos este hecho sirvió como un reconocimiento a su existencia y su importancia de que deben ser tomado en cuenta su opinión para que tenga su voz importancia en decidir como se manejan los recursos y proyectos en su comunidad y no solo sea mandado desde la capital.
