How to prepare your own Tyrokafteri: A Creamy and Fiery Greek Delight

I have been putting off this post, but I think it is time to make it now!

Today, I will share with you my own recipe for a spicy, creamy, tasty sauce "feta cheese dip"

The best thing? You will just need 4 ingredients (or 3), which many of you may already have at home.

The below ingredients are for 2-3 people - I suggest that you make this once and add/remove according to your own taste.

Recipe: Creamy Tyrokafteri (Spicy Feta Dip)

Ingredients:

  • 150-200g Greek feta cheese
  • 1-2 roasted peppers
  • 2-3 fresh chili peppers (adjust to your desired spiciness)
  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
  • optional 1-2 tablespoons Greek yogurt (adjust to desired consistency)

Instructions:

Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Cut the feta cheese into small cubes.

  • Slice the roasted red peppers

  • Use fresh chili peppers (1 or 2) should be ok, and chop them finely. If you want the dip to be super spicy, leave all the seeds in. If not, Remove any seeds.

Blend the Ingredients:

  • Place the feta cheese in a blender or mixer.

Add the Peppers:

  • Add the sliced red peppers to the blender.

Spice It Up:

  • Add the fresh or dried chili peppers to the blender.

Mix It All Together:

  • Drizzle in a few tablespoons of olive oil to help with blending.
  • Blend the ingredients until smooth. You can adjust the creaminess by adding more or less olive oil.

Adjust the Consistency:

  • If you prefer a softer and lighter dip, add 2-3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt to the mixture.
  • Blend again until everything is well combined and you achieve the desired consistency.

(Please note: I have seen recipes using garlic and red vinegar. I have not tried them in my recipe, but I plan to check this out in the future)

Serve:

  • Transfer the creamy Tyrokafteri to a serving dish.

Enjoy:

  • Serve the creamy Tyrokafteri as a dip with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or any other desired accompaniments.

This spicy feta dip can be enjoyed with a variety of foods and makes for a delicious and flavorful appetizer. Adjust the spiciness and creaminess to your liking, and enjoy! It blends perfectly with BBQ, french fries, pita bread, fresh bread or even in (non toasted) toasts.

Have you ever tried this dip? Do you make something similar?
Let me know!

Hi @katerinaramm

It's nice to see you in the community, welcome to Plant Power (Vegan). This recipe is very interesting, and with a lot of flavor, ideal for spreading. The use of chilies and peppers is delicious; however, if you read the community description, you can see that we are a vegan community, not a vegetarian one. Sometimes this is confusing, it's true. In veganism we do not accept any products of animal origin, which includes non-vegan cheese and yogurt, as well as other products, such as honey, eggs, creams, etc.

Greetings and happy day.

Hello and thank you for your response.

This can also be done with vegan white cheese, and it was my mistake for not including it in the post.

I am sorry for the misunderstanding and congratulations for the great content in your community.

(Not sure if I can change the community now)

Yes, this recipe can be made with vegan cheese or soft tofu.

And well, we are all learning, don't worry about changing communities, it's not a problem.

Thank you very much for your nice comment. We hope to see other good recipes from you.

Have a great week end!

Thanks! They taste great and you can also eat those peppers as a standalone salad (with oil and vinegar)
