The Guide in the Gallery: Entry for the Shadow Contest/SMASh - Round 308
Hello Hivers and Hunters!
I'm here again joining the SMASh shadow contest in this community of #ShadowHunters and I hunted some more shadows around this time in a particular place.
I don't know if you know that beneath the city of Lisbon in Portugal, there is more life and history hidden. Under the floor of the center of the Portuguese capital there are Roman remains, because that city was in the days of the Roman Empire, Olissipo, and since then, despite earthquakes and floods, some Roman galleries now remain underground.
Roman Galleries / Galerías Romanas (Lisboa)
Access today is somewhat complicated because they are only open to the public twice a year, and you have to be lucky to get tickets from the town hall. And I was really lucky, because people even come from other cities in the country, and on the other hand I just saw the advertisement on a post of a social media site exactly one minute after it was published and I was able to make an appointment to pick up a couple of tickets. Then you have to go before, wait in line, and get off with the help of workers and a ladder through a hole in the street!
Yes, a central street in the tourist area (Rua da Conceição), where they have to cut off traffic in some lanes and so people get off in groups. I recommend wearing sneakers or better yet, rain boots because there is water underneath.
But it doesn't matter, it's fascinating that there are still remains and that there are people who tell us more about all that history of the past that didn't even seem to exist there when we passed over such a busy and crowded street so many times.
Now all that remains is to continue listening to the guide in the cave, almost without light, be careful, because there are flooded areas, and enjoy those ancient walls and surviving bricks on which it seems that there are small inscriptions left if we look closely.
More stones, more history and without a doubt a unique unforgettable experience.
Good morning dear friend @duvinca
I had read about this, but it is the first time I see its interior. It's good that you were able to get authorization to enter there.
And what beautiful shots of shadows, thank you very much for sharing these beautiful shots and the visiting experience
Thanks dear friend @jlufer!
Not easy to go there really, even many local people have never seen this place. It's rudimentary but still fascinating as all was built by Romans and despite earthquake and all, we can see some parts in a place that we can't imagine just walking through the street!
Happy Sunday! 🤗
Without a doubt, being close to something so old and well preserved, it must be a fascination to be there.
Have a happy start to the week
Thanks same to you 🤗🙏

That's really fascinating.
Good thing you don't suffer from claustrophobia, I don't think I would be able to enjoy this marvel without an attack. 😂🤣
No no claustrophobia at all, a lot of enthusiasm of touching Roman bricks, stones and constructions and feel and breathe that ancient air in there 😅 ufff Roman Empire lover!
Thanks a lot! Happy week! 🙌😁
