The Cat the Shadows Kept/SMASH Round 429

Hello, Hivers!
Today I want to share something simple but close to my heart, a little encounter with our neighborhood black cat, a quiet wanderer I've come to call the Shadow Hunter. I spotted him one afternoon lounging in the garden, stretched across an old wooden plank, half-lit by the sun and half-swallowed by shade. There was something so peaceful and mysterious about him that I couldn't help but grab my camera. This is my entry for this week's Shadow Hunters Community Contest / SMASH Round 429. A huge thank you to @melinda010100 for hosting this wonderful contest through SHADOW HUNTER!

I followed him slowly through the garden, crouching low to the gravel, trying to capture the way the dappled light fell across his fur. At one point he stood up, turned to face me directly on the stone path, and locked eyes with me. Those green eyes were luminous even in the harsh midday contrast. I pressed the shutter. He blinked. And just like that, the session was over. He walked to the edge of the garden and paused silhouetted against the bright green beyond, then disappeared into the undergrowth. A shadow returning to the shadows. I hope these photos bring a little of that quiet magic to your feed today. There is so much beauty in the ordinary, in the creatures who share our spaces without ever truly belonging to us.
