While organizing my room, I found a toy that has been with me for many years and is perfect for this contest, where the toy is stationary, but its presence doesn’t end there—it extends, projects, and transforms into something else, allowing it to come alive and highlighting just how valuable this toy is.

The light falls from above with intensity, and that effect begins to sketch a second version of the toy, casting a shadow. However, the shadow does not copy every detail; it simplifies them. The open hands become almost abstract shapes, the legs lose definition, and the face ceases to be expressive, becoming a silhouette that barely hints at character.

Everything changes, and the toy takes control, assuming a posture and an intention, ready as if at any moment it were about to make a move. But its shadow tells a different story, as it lacks the same precision and is freer, more unstable—and everything changes.

Organizando mi cuarto encontré un juguete que tiene muchos años conmigo y es perfecto para este concurso, donde el juguete está fijo, pero su presencia no termina allí, ya que se extiende, se proyecta y se transforma en algo más, la cual permite que vibre vida y resáltenlo valioso que es dicho juguete.

La luz cae desde arriba con intensidad y ese efecto gesto comienza a dibujar una segunda versión del juguete y sale una sombra. Sin embargo, la sombra no copia cada detalle; los simplifica. Las manos abiertas se vuelven formas casi abstractas, las piernas pierden definición y el rostro deja de ser expresión para convertirse en una silueta que apenas insinúa carácter.

Todo cambia y el juguete toma control, postura, intención y está listo, como si en cualquier momento fuera a ejecutar un movimiento. Pero su sombra cuenta otra historia, ya que no tiene la misma precisión y es más libre, más inestable y todo cambia.

When cast on the ground, the shadow lengthens and distorts depending on the angle. Sometimes it seems larger than the figure itself, and other times it shrinks; it all depends on the light. This allows for the creation of two versions: a visible warrior—firm, composed—and an invisible warrior—expansive, unpredictable.

The shadow allows us to transform something static into something alive, since it is not merely the absence of light, but how one looks at it. In the end, the figure is not alone; it is always accompanied by that other form that follows it, exaggerates it, and questions it. A presence that cannot be touched, but that completely redefines the way we see it. That is why what is interesting about the photo is that we are not just seeing a figure; we are seeing how the light gives it a second identity.

Al colarlo en el suelo la sombra se alarga y se deforma dependiendo del ángulo. A veces parece más grande que el propio muñeco y otras veces se encoge, todo dependerá de la luz. Donde permite crear dos versiones, un guerrero visible, firme, contenido y un guerrero invisible, expandido, impredecible.

La sombra permite convertir algo estático en algo vivo, puesto que no es solo la ausencia de luz, sino como uno lo mira. Al final, el muñeco no está solo siempre está acompañado por esa otra forma que lo sigue, que lo exagera, que lo cuestiona. Una presencia que no se puede tocar, pero que redefine por completo la manera en que lo vemos. Por eso lo interesante de la foto es que no solo vemos una figura, estamos viendo cómo la luz le da una segunda identidad.
