Architecture and history of the Panteón Nacional of Venezuela [ENG/ESP]
(Edited)

After many years of visits to the city of Caracas - Venezuela, I finally had the opportunity to visit the National Pantheon, a place that I had always heard among people, as the point where they find the immortal remains of many of the heroes of Venezuelan independence, being the most notable Simon Bolivar, but I had never visited it, even on several occasions being very close to this building, which a few meters away can be recognized.
Although on this occasion just when I was arriving at the place I could not access because they were already closing, but I could appreciate the whole structure and photograph it, and at first glance it looked like a spaceship, but it is a large structure that was formerly known as the church of the Holy Trinity, and then became the resting place of the remains of many illustrious Venezuelans and also among some foreigners who had significant contributions to the country.
This building is located in the parish called Altagracia de Caracas, near the center of Caracas and certain very busy places such as Bolivar Square, the National Assembly and others. Initially this structure was built in 1780 by Juan Domingo del Sacramento Infante, and was known as the church of the Holy Trinity. But after a great earthquake that hit the city in 1812, the church was destroyed.
After a few decades, the church would change its façade and structure, under the decrees of the president of Venezuela in 1874, Antonio Guzmán Blanco. From that moment on, the structures of the old church were restored, so that many of the remains of the illustrious were brought in, which would rest in this facility forever.
Then in 1911, under the works of the architect Alejandro Chataing, he would be in charge of executing important modifications in the structure, so that later in 1929, another important architect as was Manuel Música Millán, would execute an important intervention especially in the towers of the structure, remaining so for the posteriority as we can appreciate it in present times.
For what can be considered key years in its construction and important modifications of this structure, the years of 1780, 1911 and 1929. Building that went from the colonial architectural style, for the years it was built, where the colonial style had an important influence in the country, passing through the neo-Gothic style, to get to have a neo-baroque style. Therefore, this building can be considered that it preserves several styles, therefore, it is also considered of eclectic architectural style.
As you can appreciate this church, it has three naves, a central one and two on its lateral sides, as well as each tower in all its pedestal are composed of domes, and throughout the facade and side structure are composed of certain ornamental designs, while we see that the doors of this church are arched and the central tower has a height of 49 meters, highlighting its great presence on the city of Caracas, as a site of great architectural and historical importance.
