Various architectural features of the exterior of the buildings in Yaddehimulla, which has attracted more tourist attraction. - Part 1
Hi my fellow Architecture+Design community members,
What's up guys? I hope everyting are fine with you. Yesterday evening I had few hours rest for walking among beautiful area to explore various architectural buildings. Unawatuna Yaddehimulla area can be mentioned as the most tourist attraction in Sri Lanka because it has a beautiful beach. Therefore, many local and foreign tourists stay in this area with the aim of enjoying a sweet experience. For the same reason, many tourist hotels, restaurants, lodges, jewelry shops etc. have been built here. The houses in this tourist area are located a little further. The value of a piece of land in Yaddehimulla area is very high. But many lodges have been built around this area where tourists can stay at a reasonable price. Because it is a tourist area, Habarawa Regional Council pays more attention to cleanliness. So, as in my previous content, this preparation is to file various architectural aspects of the exterior of the tourist resorts.
After coming from the Galle-Matara main road, to reach Yaddehimulla area, you have to pass Unawatuna and turn to a central road. As soon as you reach the junction, you will find the very beautiful Spa Ceylon Massage Center. Encased in glass on the outside, the multi-colored light inside illuminates the Spa Ceylon massage center. Having various wall decorations pasted inside the spa salon adds to the charm. And the way their products are packaged on the shelves used to sell them is in order.
Due to its proximity to the beach, although iron is used minimally for many resorts, the entrance gate of the above resort is made of iron bars. Often they have to be painted. It is a remarkable feature to create a roof without cutting down a coconut tree because of love for the environment.
The gate and outer wall of the Blue swan inn, with some beautiful carvings, look old but attractive to me. Although the wall is slightly discolored, it gives a natural look. Maybe that's why they don't apply new paint. During this visit, many different buildings were seen. Such walls and gates are also found among them.
Although I don't need to mention the name of each resort, I will always try to explain the various architectural features that can be seen in them. The front of the ground floor is covered with dry coconut fronds to accommodate the restaurant. Through it, the guests can get a coolness even during the hottest time while eating. Several such restaurants were encountered during this trip. Although the balcony wall of the first floor and the second floor were finished in the same shape, a change has been made by including the yellow color on the first floor. But different architectural forms are included for windows and doors.
Now you can clearly see the difference in the shapes and other outputs of the successive buildings. Following the eco-friendly concept of many buildings, asbestos sheets were not used for roofs. The balcony sections of this resort were facing the sea. I could also observe how some other parts are still under construction.

Next, my attention was drawn to a seafood restaurant called Blue Whale. You can see how an eco-friendly concept has been followed here. I mention this because of the natural materials that have been used to create this restaurant. Because dry coconut branches have been used for the roof, tourists can enjoy their food comfortably even in the hot weather. The tables and chairs of this restaurant are also made of wood. In the front part, some pieces of white painted wood have been used as a wall. I pay more attention to the buildings created using such natural materials to find out the concepts used for this purpose.
Next, I turned my attention to the Gloria Grand Hotel, which was created by combining several interesting architectural elements. This is a three star class hotel with three floors. It can be said that the blue cover above the front entrance adds more appeal to the hotel. The hotel also has rooms with balconies overlooking the road as well as rooms with balconies overlooking the sea. Although there is no space for a garden here, the fact that the management has worked to plant ornamental plants in the small or available spaces can be mentioned as following the pro-environmental policy. It is certain that the activities of this hotel will improve through such policies to attract tourists.
Several open glass shops are spread across this yaddehimulla area selling Sri Lankan traditional sculptures, masks, sculptures of Hindu Gods, sculptures of animals etc. They are especially focused on the business of tourists. Carving, a traditional Sri Lankan industry, is sure to be popularized through this. As I have heard, some shops sell these carvings to foreigners at higher prices. Therefore such stores do not get much income. Therefore, this industry can be used to get more income if these carvings and sculptures are provided for a fixed amount suitable for tourists.
The restaurant is The Hideout covered with a roof of dried coconut leaves with a very attractive entrance. Specially served here is Mexican food. If you are a person who loves Mexican food then you can visit this place. The kitchen at this place is open from 12 noon to 10 pm. Also the bar of this place is open from 12:30 PM to 1130 PM. Natural materials were also used to create the hideaway restaurant. There is a specially designed stone wall as well as an open entrance gate. If you want to enjoy the coolness of nature's beauty, you can visit the large garden of this place. It can be mentioned here that the eco-friendly concept is followed because you can see big trees here. The chairs and tables for sitting and eating in this restaurant are beautifully designed from wood.
Here I got to see a coconut style restaurant with a roof covered with dry coconut branches. As I mentioned, you can see a few restaurants in Yaddehimulla with roofs using dried coconut fronds. Most of these restaurants serve seafood. Although there are no special architectural features in this restaurant, it is especially attracting my attention because of the priority given to naturalness.
A Buddhist temple can also be seen in Unawatuna yaddehimulla area. Although not very ancient, traditional architectural carvings can be seen throughout. According to traditional Buddhist beliefs, annual sacrifices are also held at this place.
Built with beautiful architectural elements, Hotel Neptune Bay graces the Yaddehimulla area. All along this street, cement blocks are fixed to the ground and make it easy for tourists to walk. Here the wall gives an attractive circular shape at the top. At the bottom of it, a circle is created and placed as a gap. N B stands for Neptune Bay. There are many types of small stones spread in a part of the wall. Surely you also understand that it is not an easy task.
This resort has room facilities on the ground floor as well as on the upper two floors. The first floor has an open balcony and is finished in a brown painted wooden frame. But the balcony area on the second floor is not open and is only reserved for those who book the room. The window and door frame shapes used for the three floors are different.
Another medium-sized tourist resort made up of several roofs in a triangular shape. The fact that all the three floors are finished with the same shapes and accessories is a reason for the difference. However, ornamental plants were planted on the upper two floors and the lower floor.
Among many tourist resorts, an old and currently abandoned house caught my eye. This house was built in 1990 using architectural elements and accessories. There is no doubt about the owners of this house. Perhaps in the future, a large building can be built on this land.

Almost all these buildings have different and distinctive architectural features. It should be mentioned especially that all the tourist resort owners have worked to add beauty to the environment by planting a few ornamental plants even in such a concrete-covered ground.
Then I saw a restaurant with orange designs on the wall. There is a yoga center on the top floor. This orange color is more attractive. The ceiling of the lower floor has the same design as the wall. Indoor and outdoor light bulbs are installed hanging down.
The architectural elements seen during the visit to Yaddehimulla area cannot be concluded in one content. Therefore, I am temporarily saying goodbye, hoping to publish it in another part. Greetings!

Yes of course. They have lot of responsiblities.
I just love how the structures were made. It seems that it is being planned we'll and put into what it is to be built.
Yes, it is clear that those structures have been designed and created.

Wow, I love those dry coconut leaf ceilings, they add so much naturalness and a fresh look that definitely provokes eating in a place like this. I really like how they use natural elements in almost every design. They all have features that are worth appreciating. Thank you for this wonderful tour.
You are welcome first @doriangel, Places made using dry coconut leaves, bamboo and some types of wood are very attractive. The naturalness of houses made of trees is highlighted because of the natural materials used. Eating at a place like this is sure to work up an appetite.

Greetings @madushanka, the designs of these inns are varied, my favorites are the ones with palm roofs, they have a touch of freshness and country style that I love.
