Andres Bello Park, Merida Venezuela Eng-Esp
Hello dear friends of architecture and design, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. This week I joined the #hivearoundtheworld challenge and for day number 5 we were invited to share a public place in our city and I take this opportunity to share with you this beautiful park that I had the opportunity to meet a couple of weeks ago.
It is the Andres Bello Park, a beautiful green lung that is located on the avenue of the same name. This park was reopened in 2023, as indicated on the plaque of the sculpture of the illustrious Andres Bello and is currently very well maintained.
It is an ideal park to enjoy nature, breathe fresh air and enjoy the view it gives us to the other side of the city. I have always thought that architecture and nature should go hand in hand and these natural spaces adapted for enjoyment and recreation are necessary.
Hola queridos amigos de arquitectura y diseño, espero estén pasando un fin de semana maravilloso. Esta semana me uní al reto de #hivearoundtheworld y para el día número 5 nos invitaron a compartir un lugar público de nuestra ciudad y aprovecho esta ocasión para compartir con ustedes este bello parque que tuve la oportunidad de conocer hace un par de semanas.
Se trata del Parque Andrés Bello, un bello pulmón verde que se encuentra ubicado en la Av. del mismo nombre. Este parque fue reinaugurado en el 2023, como lo indica en la placa de la escultura del ilustre Andrés Bello y actualmente se encuentra muy bien cuidado.
Es un parque ideal para disfrutar de la naturaleza, respirar aire fresco y disfrutar de la vista que nos da hacia el otro lado de la ciudad. Siempre he pensado que la arquitectura y la naturaleza deben ir de la mano y estos espacios naturales adaptados para el disfrute y recreación son necesarios.
The park is located on the side of the avenue and all around its perimeter there is a stone wall that delimits the place and gives it security, since the extension of land is the top of a terrace. The city of Mérida itself is located on an alluvial terrace. In this park we find tall, leafy trees and, of course, from their branches hang the so-called barbas de palo, which, as I have mentioned on other occasions, I love.

El parque está ubicado al lateral de la avenida y en todo su perímetro encontramos un muro de piedra que delimita el lugar y le da seguridad, ya que la extensión de terreno es la cima de una terraza. La ciudad de Mérida en sí está asentada sobre una terraza aluvial. En este parque encontramos árboles altos y frondosos y, por supuesto, de sus ramas cuelgan las llamadas barbas de palo, que como he mencionado en otras oportunidades
me encanta.
One of the things that most attracts me to the park are these circular structures, similar to metallic pergolas, which many take advantage of to exercise.
Una de las cosas que más me atraen del parque son estas estructuras circulares, similares a pérgolas metálicas, que muchos aprovechan para ejercitarse.
There are also some rectangular ones in different colors. Throughout the park there are concrete benches, ideal for resting and admiring the view for a while.
También encontramos algunas rectangulares en distintos colores. A lo largo del parque encontramos bancas de concreto, ideales para descansar y admirar la vista un rato.
We walked a bit and arrived at the central area where the sculpture of the illustrious Andrés Bello is located. The sculpture is a true work of art and is very large. The historical personage is seated with a book in his hand and this hero of independence was the teacher of the liberator Simón Bolívar. It is located on a huge square pedestal of concrete with a smooth finish. Behind it there are stairs and you can access the monument. My son took some pictures with him.
Caminamos un poco y llegamos al área central donde se encuentra la escultura del ilustre Andrés Bello. La escultura es una verdadera obra de arte y es muy grande. El personaje histórico se encuentra sentado con un libro en la mano y es que este prócer de la independencia, fue el maestro del libertador Simón Bolívar. Está situado sobre un enorme pedestal cuadrado de concreto con un acabado liso. Detrás tiene unas escaleras y se puede acceder al monumento. Mi hijo se tomó algunas fotos con él.
We enjoyed some time in this park and a few meters from the sculpture we found a playground for the children. On the ground, they drew various games for fun and exercise: some mazes, the popular little airplane, colorful worms and many more. I call this art with purpose.
The strategic location of the structures, the sculpture and the different walks in the middle of this small natural environment, make this park a beautiful place that deserves to be enjoyed. So, if you are ever in Mérida, I invite you to visit it.
Disfrutamos un rato en este parque y a pocos metros de la escultura encontramos un espacio de juegos para los niños. En el suelo, dibujaron diversos juegos para divertirse y ejercitarse: algunos laberintos, el popular avioncito, gusanos de colores y muchos más. A esto le llamo arte con propósito.
La ubicación estratégica de las estructuras, la escultura y las distintas caminaría en medio de este pequeño entorno natural, hacen de este parque un sitio hermoso que merece ser disfrutado. Por eso, si en algún momento estas en Mérida, te invito a conocerlo.

Que hermosura de parque, realmente es un espacio pensado para el disfrute de toda la familia. Como acotación, Andrés Bello es venezolano, aunque los chilenos se lo han querido robar por el tiempo que vivió allá y también porque sus restos fueron enterrados en ese país. Obtuvo la nacionalidad chilena, pero nació y se crió en Caracas - Venezuela.
What a beautiful park, it really is a space designed for the enjoyment of the whole family. As an aside, Andrés Bello is Venezuelan, although the Chileans have wanted to steal him because of the time he lived there and also because his remains were buried in that country. He obtained the Chilean nationality, but he was born and raised in Caracas - Venezuela.

Hi Doris, this square really represents your city well. You can see from the photos how cold the climate is because it's in the mountains.

As for Andrés Bello, he was an illustrious Venezuelan. He was born in Caracas but also had several nationalities, including Chilean and Spanish. However, Chile welcomed him as one of their own because he was a man of great culture and wisdom. I believe he founded universities there.

Los árboles de barbas me parecen lindos y dan una sensación a misterio y no sé porque me recuerdan la Navidad.
En cuanto a Andrés Bello, fue un ilustre venezolano, el nació en Caracas pero también tenia varias nacionalidades como la chilena y la española. Solo que en Chile lo acogieron como uno más, por ser un hombre de mucha cultura y sabiduría, creo universidades alla.
