[ENG/ESP] Sweet moments that cross miles
Happy day, dear hives! I hope your day is filled with pleasant moments and that every instant becomes a special memory. Today I want to share a story with you that was wonderful for me, because even though I didn't have to work, the day was full of activities, surprises, and little details that made it one of those days that you remember fondly.
Early in the morning, I received an unexpected call. I thought it would come later, but it turned out to be to let me know that I had to go pick up a special package. Without thinking twice, I got ready and headed into town. The weather was a little cloudy in the morning, with that light mist that usually covers the island in the early hours of the day. However, those of us who live here know that the sun always ends up coming out strong and giving us a radiant sky. I took advantage of the trip to take some pictures of the landscapes, because every corner seemed to want to surprise me with its natural beauty.

Hoy quiero compartirles un relato que para mí fue maravilloso, porque aunque no tuve que trabajar, el día estuvo lleno de actividades, sorpresas y detalles que hicieron que se convirtiera en uno de esos días que se recuerdan con cariño.
Desde temprano recibí una llamada inesperada. Pensé que llegaría más tarde, pero resultó ser para avisarme que debía ir a buscar una encomienda especial. Sin pensarlo dos veces, me preparé y salí rumbo a la ciudad. El clima amaneció un poco nublado, con esa bruma ligera que suele cubrir la Isla en las primeras horas del día. Sin embargo, quienes vivimos aquí sabemos que el sol siempre termina apareciendo con fuerza y regalándonos un cielo radiante. Aproveché el trayecto para tomar algunas fotografías de los paisajes, porque cada rincón parecía querer sorprenderme con su belleza natural.
The biggest surprise came from my mom and sister, who got together to send me a sweet gift through a mutual friend. In Venezuela, they don't make the traditional ground peanut bars that are special in my homeland of Cuba and that I really like, and my son, my husband, and I enjoy them very much. Imagine my excitement when I discovered that the package contained several of these bars. But that wasn't all; there were also some handmade chocolates from @chocolatesalile, made by my sister @lileisabel. They are intense chocolates, with the perfect amount of sugar and varied fillings that make every bite awaken all the senses. She surprised me with an assorted tray, and we've already decided that we'll eat them slowly so they last longer and we can savor each one calmly.
La sorpresa más grande vino de parte de mi mamá y mi hermana, quienes se pusieron de acuerdo para enviarme un regalo dulce a través de un amigo en común. En Venezuela no se elaboran las tradicionales tabletas de maní molido que en mi tierra natal Cuba son especiales que me gustan mucho, y tanto mi hijo, mi esposo como yo las disfrutamos muchísimo. Imaginen mi emoción al descubrir que en la encomienda venían varias de esas tabletas. Pero eso no fue todo; también llegaron unos bombones artesanales de @chocolatesalile, elaborados por mi hermana @lileisabel. Son chocolates intensos, con el punto de azúcar perfecto y rellenos variados que hacen que cada mordida despierte todos los sentidos. Ella me sorprendió con una bandeja surtida, y ya hemos decidido que los comeremos despacio para que nos duren más tiempo y podamos saborear cada uno con calma.
After this sweet surprise, since we were already in town, we took the opportunity to go to La Isla shopping center. We had to leave my husband's phone at the repair shop because the touchscreen was malfunctioning. Plus, our trusted mechanic works there, so it was a good opportunity to take care of that. On our way out, we passed by the “efe” ice cream stand. And of course, if my husband sees an ice cream place, he can't resist; he ordered a cone that turned out to be creamy and delicious, a real treat for our taste buds.
Después de esta dulce sorpresa, como ya estábamos en la ciudad, aprovechamos para ir al centro comercial La Isla. Teníamos que dejar el teléfono de mi esposo en el servicio técnico porque el táctil estaba fallando. Además, nuestra mecánica de confianza trabaja allí, así que era una buena oportunidad para resolver ese detalle. Al salir, pasamos por el stand de helados “efe”. Y claro, si mi esposo ve un lugar de helados, no puede resistirse; pidió una barquilla que resultó ser cremosa y deliciosa, un verdadero placer para nuestro paladar.
With the basket in hand, we continued on our way, enjoying the landscapes that seemed to smile at us with every step. Nature always has a way of smiling at us.
Con la barquilla en mano seguimos nuestro recorrido, disfrutando de los paisajes que parecían sonreírnos a cada paso. La naturaleza siempre tiene una manera de sonreirnos.
Later, we headed to my father's house, where we had arranged to meet the day before to help him harvest mandarins. The bush was laden with fruit, and it looked spectacular. My husband took care of picking them while my father and I tasted a few. What a special sweetness! Juicy and fresh, perfect for sharing. We left a basket for my father, because he often gives tangerines to his neighbors and friends, and we took a few to enjoy at home. We don't need many, because we can always pick them directly from the bush when we visit him.
Más tarde, nos dirigimos a la casa de mi padre, con quien habíamos quedado desde el día anterior para ayudarle a cosechar mandarinas. El arbusto estaba cargado y la fruta se veía espectacular. Mi esposo se encargó de recogerlas mientras mi padre y yo probábamos algunas. ¡Qué dulzura tan especial! Jugosas y frescas, perfectas para compartir. Le dejamos una cesta a mi padre, porque él suele regalar mandarinas a sus vecinos y amigos, y nosotros llevamos unas pocas para disfrutar en casa. No necesitamos muchas, porque siempre podemos tomar directamente del arbusto cuando lo visitamos.
When we returned, the excitement of opening the package was still intact. We wanted to try those delicacies that had traveled so many miles to reach us and give us sweet moments. And so it was; each bite became a delicious treat that filled our lives with sweet and tender joy.
I love days like this, full of surprises, familiar gestures, and flavors that connect us with those we love. I enjoyed it to the fullest and couldn't help but share it with you, because I know that you also value those experiences that seem simple but are actually the ones that enrich us the most.
Al regresar, la emoción por abrir la encomienda seguía intacta. Queríamos probar esas delicias que habían viajado tantos kilómetros para llegar hasta nosotros y regalarnos momentos dulces. Y así fue; cada bocado se convirtió en un delicioso detalle que nos llenó la vida de una dulce y tierna alegría.
Me encantan los días como este, llenos de sorpresas, de gestos familiares y de sabores que nos conectan con quienes queremos. Lo disfruté al máximo y no podía dejar de compartirlo con ustedes, porque sé que también valoran esas experiencias que parecen simples pero que en realidad son las que más nos enriquecen.
