Have a great weekend! I sincerely hope you’re enjoying it with the people you love and who are by your side during life’s important moments. Weekends always have that special feel, as if time were to slow down a little to give us moments of rest, companionship, and reflection. For me, this weekend will be a bit short, since I’ll only have the chance to rest on Sunday. On Saturday, the work routine continues at the Sunsol Ecoland Hotel, where there’s always something to attend to and keep in good condition to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
That day, to get to the hotel, we took the Portachuelo route, which is the fastest and most convenient, but also one of the most beautiful. The landscape that unfolds between green hills and dry hillsides has a special charm. Although the day was a bit unusual, with the sky alternately clouding over and clearing up, the atmosphere had its own magic. It seemed as if it were raining somewhere nearby, and that mix of light and dark on the horizon gave the journey a mysterious air. Traveling along that road is always beautiful, even amid the daily challenges.
Feliz fin de semana, espero sinceramente que lo estén disfrutando junto a las personas que quieren y que les acompañan en los momentos importantes de la vida. Los fines de semana siempre tienen ese aire especial, como si el tiempo se detuviera un poco para regalarnos instantes de descanso, de compañía y de reflexión. En mi caso, este fin de semana será un poco corto, pues solo tendré la oportunidad de descansar el domingo. El sábado continúa la rutina de trabajo en el hotel Sunsol Ecoland, donde siempre hay algo que atender y mantener en buen estado para garantizar que todo funcione de manera correcta.
Ese día, para llegar al hotel, tomamos la vía de Portachuelo, que es la más rápida y práctica, pero también una de las más hermosas. El paisaje que se abre entre cerros verdes y colinas secas tiene un encanto particular. Aunque el día estaba un poco extraño, con un cielo que a ratos se cubría de nubes y luego se despejaba, la atmósfera tenía su magia. Parecía que en algún lugar cercano estaba lloviendo, y esa mezcla de claros y oscuros en el horizonte le daba un aire misterioso al recorrido. Viajar por esa carretera siempre es hermoso, en medio de las dificultades cotidianas.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we set about performing the chlorination and disinfection routine in the main tank. It’s a job that requires precision and care, because the proper functioning of the desalination plant and the safety of the water reaching the facilities depend on those parameters. This time, I decided to stay at the bottom of the tank, since I’ve been experiencing knee pain from standing for long hours. To relieve it, I’ve been taking vitamins, using anti-inflammatory patches, and, above all, avoiding unnecessary exertion, such as climbing the long staircase to the main tank.
Al llegar al hotel, nos dedicamos a realizar la rutina de cloración y desinfección en el tanque principal. Es un trabajo que requiere precisión y cuidado, porque de esos valores depende que la planta desalinizadora funcione correctamente y que el agua que llega a las instalaciones sea segura para todos. En esta ocasión, decidí quedarme en la parte baja del tanque, ya que he venido presentando un dolor en una rodilla por permanecer largas horas de pie. Para aliviarlo he estado usando vitaminas, parches antiinflamatorios y, sobre todo, evitando esfuerzos innecesarios como subir la larga escalera del tanque principal.
Although it might seem like a limitation, being down there allowed me to see the hotel from a different perspective, with low-hanging clouds skimming the hills and the sea in the background shrouded in clouds that foreshadowed rain in the distance. It was a quiet, serene sight that gave me a moment of contemplation in the middle of the day.
Aunque pueda parecer una limitación, estar abajo me permitió observar el hotel desde otra perspectiva, con las nubes bajas acariciando los cerros y el mar al fondo cubierto por una nubosidad que anunciaba lluvia a lo lejos. Era un espectáculo silencioso y sereno que me regaló un momento de contemplación en medio de la jornada.
After finishing the work on the tank and verifying that the readings were stable, we left the hotel feeling very satisfied. Knowing that the desalination plant is operating properly is always a relief, because it means that our efforts are paying off and that the system continues to serve its purpose. With that peace of mind, we decided to make a quick stop before heading home. We drove past the entrance to the lagoon channel and the beach, because in the distance we saw a large flock of seagulls and pelicans. As we got closer, we realized it was due to the arrival of the fishermen’s boats. The birds, intelligent and patient, signaled the boats’ arrival with their flights, hoping to receive a treat in the form of fish or scraps from the catch. It was quite a natural spectacle—a dance between humans and birds that seemed choreographed by life itself. I couldn’t pass up the chance to watch it calmly and share it, because it’s those little moments that fill our days with meaning.
Después de terminar el trabajo en el tanque y verificar que los valores estuvieran estables, nos retiramos del hotel con gran satisfacción. Saber que la planta desalinizadora está funcionando bien es siempre un alivio, porque significa que el esfuerzo invertido da frutos y que el sistema sigue cumpliendo su propósito. Con esa tranquilidad, decidimos hacer una pequeña parada antes de regresar a casa. Pasamos por la entrada del canal de la laguna y la playa, porque a lo lejos vimos un grupo numeroso de gaviotas y pelícanos. Al acercarnos, descubrimos que se debía a la llegada de los botes de los pescadores. Las aves, inteligentes y pacientes, anunciaban con sus vuelos la llegada de las embarcaciones, esperando recibir alguna gratificación en forma de peces o restos de la faena. Era todo un espectáculo natural, una danza entre hombres y aves que parecía coreografiada por la vida misma. No podía desaprovechar la oportunidad de observarlo con calma y compartirlo, porque son esos pequeños momentos los que llenan de sentido los días.
Amid the difficult situation Venezuela is going through, there is always a landscape, a scene, or a detail that reminds us that beauty is still present and that we can find relief from stress in the simplest things: the flight of a pelican, the sun’s reflection on the water, the enduring green of the hills. These are gifts that nature offers us and that, if we know how to look, help us maintain hope and serenity.
