[ENG/ESP] A short but scenic route with beautiful views.
Greetings, dear friends. Friday is finally here—that day many of us look forward to because it brings rest, a break, and a well-deserved respite after a week of work. For most people, today marks the start of some relief, but in my case, I’ll have to wait a little longer, since I have to work until Saturday. Even so, I welcome this day with excitement and the satisfaction of knowing that you’ll enjoy it to the fullest, that you’ll take it easy, and that you’ll get ready for your well-deserved rest.
Yesterday was a pretty light day at work. We just had to submit a quote to Lidotel for cleaning their tanks and then swing by Zoom to pick up a package. Nothing complicated, but you know that even simple days can have their own little details.
Mis saludos, queridos amigos. Ya llegó el viernes, ese día que muchos esperan con ansias porque anuncia descanso, pausa y un respiro merecido después de una semana de jornada. Para la mayoría, hoy comienza el alivio, pero en mi caso tendré que esperar un poquito más, porque me toca trabajar hasta el sábado. Aun así, recibo este día con emoción y la satisfacción de que ustedes lo disfruten plenamente, que lo vivan con calma y se preparen para su gran descanso.
Ayer fue un día bastante ligero en cuanto a trabajo. Solo teníamos que entregar un presupuesto en el Lidotel para la limpieza de sus tanques y luego pasar por Zoom a recoger una encomienda. Nada complicado, pero ya saben que incluso los días sencillos pueden traer sus propios detalles.
As we got into the work truck, we immediately noticed that something wasn’t right. It was sputtering a lot, and since my husband knows about mechanics, he quickly told me it was probably the fuel filter. Luckily, we had a spare one stashed away, but since the trip we had to make was short, we decided to leave the truck behind and take our son’s motorcycle instead. That way, we could change the filter later at our leisure, without rushing or stressing.
The weather was better than in previous days. Although the breeze was still blowing strongly and kicking up dust, it didn’t stop giving us beautiful moments. That breeze, which can sometimes be annoying, also has its charm, because it rustles the leaves, cools the air, and brings the landscapes to life. Despite the dust, I was able to capture the essence of the day through my lens, to share with you a little piece of what my eyes saw and my heart felt.
Al montarnos en la camioneta de trabajo, notamos enseguida que algo no estaba bien. Fallaba bastante, y como mi esposo sabe de mecánica, no tardó en decirme que seguramente era el filtro de gasolina. Por suerte teníamos un repuesto guardado, pero como el recorrido que debíamos hacer era corto, preferimos dejar la camioneta quieta y salir en la moto de nuestro hijo. Así podríamos hacer el cambio del filtro con calma más tarde, sin apuros ni estrés.
El clima estaba mejor que en días anteriores. Aunque la brisa seguía soplando con fuerza y levantando polvo, no dejó de regalar momentos hermosos. Esa brisa que a veces molesta también tiene su encanto, porque mueve las hojas, refresca el ambiente y le da vida a los paisajes. A pesar del polvo, pude capturar la esencia del día con mi lente, para compartirles un pedacito de lo que mis ojos vieron y mi corazón sintió.
Before continuing on our way, we stopped to fill up. Since this isn’t our usual car, we wanted to make the trip with the peace of mind that we wouldn’t get stranded. But when we arrived at the gas station, we were in for a surprise: they had changed the payment method. Before, you’d fill up and then pay inside; now it’s the other way around. I asked why, and they explained that some people would fill up the tank and then their card wouldn’t go through, so they wouldn’t pay. That’s why they implemented the new method.
They had to make an exception for us, because we didn’t know how much gas the motorcycle had and we wanted to fill it up completely. Finally, we managed to pay, fill the tank, and continue on our way, enjoying the scenery that the island’s climate, with its unique light, always offers us.
Antes de continuar nuestro camino, nos detuvimos a colocar combustible. Como no es nuestro vehículo habitual, queríamos hacer el recorrido con la tranquilidad de saber que no nos quedaríamos varados. Pero al llegar a la estación de servicio nos encontramos con una sorpresa; habían cambiado la forma de pago. Antes se colocaba el combustible y luego se pagaba en el local; ahora es al revés. Pregunté la razón y me explicaron que algunas personas llenaban el tanque y después la tarjeta no pasaba, así que no pagaban. Por eso implementaron el nuevo método.
Tuvieron que hacer una excepción con nosotros, porque no sabíamos cuánta gasolina tenía la moto y queríamos llenarla por completo. Finalmente logramos pagar, llenar el tanque y seguir nuestro camino, disfrutando de los paisajes que el clima isleño, con su luz tan particular, siempre nos regala.
We arrived at the Sambil shopping center to drop off the quote at the Lidotel. It was quick and easy, with no complications. Then all we had to do was stop by the Zoom office, right there in the shopping center, to pick up the package our son had sent. Everything went smoothly, and the package arrived in excellent condition.
Llegamos al centro comercial Sambil para entregar el presupuesto en el Lidotel. Fue algo rápido y sencillo, sin complicaciones. Luego solo nos quedaba pasar por la oficina de Zoom, allí mismo en el centro comercial, para retirar el envío de nuestro hijo. Todo fluyó perfectamente y la encomienda llegó en excelente estado.
With all our tasks completed, we set off for home, filled with that wonderful sense of satisfaction that comes from a job well done.
Con todas las tareas cumplidas, emprendimos el regreso a casa con esa satisfacción tan bonita del deber cumplido.
My husband still had to change the filter in the truck, but that would have to wait until later in the afternoon.
