At the opening of a Grand Artists' Collective / En la apertura de una Gran Colectiva de Artistas

This Saturday was inaugurated in three cultural spaces of La Victoria, Venezuela, an exhibition of plastic arts that gathers works of several creators of the city. Paintings, photography, installations, among other works, can be seen at the House of Culture, the Minerva Gallery and the Ribas Theater Art Gallery, places located in the surroundings of the Ribas Square, in the historic center.

Este sábado se inauguró en tres espacios culturales de La Victoria, Venezuela, una exposición de artes plásticas que reúne trabajos de varios creadores de la ciudad. Pintura, fotografía, instalaciones, entre otras obras, pueden verse en la Casa de la Cultura, la Galería Minerva y la Galería de Arte Teatro Ribas, lugares que se encuentran en los alrededores de la Plaza Ribas, en pleno centro histórico.

The galleries were opened at noon, although the weather was rainy, there was a large audience, so small queues formed to appreciate the works.

Las salas fueron abiertas al mediodía, aunque el clima estaba lluvioso hubo bastante público, por lo que se formaron pequeñas colas para poder apreciar las obras.

These public spaces have been recently recovered by the Mayor's Office, and in the case of the gallery of the Ribas Theater, it was inaugurated today. The Great Collective of Victorian Artists 2025 is made up of 51 works distributed in these three spaces. The inauguration began at the House of Culture, the smallest room of this exhibition.

Estos espacios públicos han sido recuperados recientemente por la alcaldía, y en el caso de la galería del Teatro Ribas, fue inaugurada hoy. La Gran Colectiva de Artistas Victorianos 2025 está conformada por 51 obras distribuidas en estos tres espacios. La inauguración comenzó en la Casa de la Cultura, la sala más pequeña de esta muestra.

Then we continued on to the Minerva Gallery, it had been several years since I had been in there, I think it had been closed for a long time.

Luego continuamos hasta la Galería Minerva, hacía varios años que no entraba, creo que estuvo cerrada mucho tiempo.

I didn't take pictures of everything exhibited, in this publication I share the works that caught my attention, we know that art is subjective and everyone is impacted in different ways, but for me, beyond seeing something beautiful or appreciating a good technique, art should shake you, open your mind to the unknown, if not, it is purely decorative works.

No tomé fotos de todo lo expuesto, en esta publicación comparto los trabajos que más me llamaron la atención, ya sabemos que el arte es subjetivo y a cada quien le impacta de diferente manera, pero para mí, más allá de ver algo bonito o apreciar una buena técnica, el arte debe sacudirte, abrir tu mente a lo desconocido, si no, se trata de obras meramente decorativas.

The exhibition seemed to me to be quite diverse in terms of themes, styles and artists, here young people are mixed with those of great trajectory, something that I think is very positive for the development of the plastic arts in the city.

La exposición me pareció bastante diversa en cuanto a temas, estilos y artistas, aquí se mezclan los jóvenes con los de gran trayectoria, algo que creo es muy positivo para el desarrollo de la plástica en la ciudad.

The third and last stop of this opening was in the new gallery, the one at the Ribas Theater, a space not so big but optimal in my opinion, it feels intimate and the lighting is very well achieved for these purposes.

La tercera y última parada de esta apertura fue en la nueva galería, la del Teatro Ribas, un espacio no tan grande pero óptimo en mi opinión, se siente íntimo y la iluminación está muy bien lograda para estos fines.

Here I saw a contrasting mix of paintings, photographs and mixed media, I like this kind of montage or curatorship, with such different works in the same room.

Aquí vi una contrastante mezcla de pinturas, fotografías y técnicas mixtas, este tipo de montaje o curaduría, con obras tan diferentes en una misma sala, me gusta.

Because of the amount of people there were today and the reduced space, it was not possible to spend a long time observing each work, but I will go another day to see them at a leisurely pace.

Debido a la cantidad de gente que había hoy y al espacio reducido, no fue posible dedicar mucho tiempo a observar cada obra, pero iré otro día para verlas con calma.
