Cold Windy Day
Hello friends and fellow Hivers. Happy Halloween 🎃 Today as the title suggest it's a cold windy day here. I'll take you through some of my activities and what I have witnessed.
Before I do that let's talk about the weather. Look at the chart above, the last couple of days have been chilly here. It's not the coldest day this month but it feels like it. I think it was 25 degrees Fahrenheit when I left to go into work today. The wind makes a big difference as it has been a steady 20 mph all day long. Then add the wind gust up to 37 mph 🥶. So with wind it really feels subarctic! Wearing just jeans and sweatshirt I can feel it on my bones. Usually this weather doesn't bother me but it is today. It was 80 degrees Fahrenheit just over a week ago. I think it's a matter of not being ready for it, haha.
I had to work outside a bit today for work. I kept thinking I should have wore a t-shirt under my sweatshirt. I was only out in the elements for about 30 minutes. Once inside it seemed to take forever to get warm.
Well for lunch I went to one of my favorite restaurants. The name of the place is Ono Pinay Kitchen. A few months ago I did a review of this place. I was shocked a few visits ago that the article made it's way back to them. They were grateful than and thanked me for the good things I said. Have you ever had someone come up to you and ask about your blogging in person that is not a blogger?
Well the main purpose was to get some soup. I even told someone earlier I was going to get some. The thing is they had a new dish I hadn't tried before so I kind of forgot all about soup, haha.
I tried not to over fill my plates because I didn't want to have a battle with food coma later. The first plate contained steamed rice, pansit, lumpia, sisig chicken and torta (new to me). The torta was good. At first, seeing it I thought it was an all breakfast dish but it went well with the rest of the plate.
The second plate included some fried garlic rice, pork curry, and some more bite size lumpia. I didn't force myself to get some kalua pork and chicken adobo which was available as well. I did try a new dessert today (pumpkin kalamay) as well but my mind was thinking too much of eating it instead of taking a picture, haha.
After work I came home and brought some trash to garbage container. While doing this I seen this praying mantis. I can't recall ever seeing one when it was this cold. Hopefully he finds somewhere warm to go, I can't imagine it feels comfortable but than again maybe I'm wrong.
This photo is kind of a redemption photo for me. The other day I was delivery driving and seen a doe and it's fawn but didn't have the opportunity to take a photo. While delivery driving today I was able to catch these deer. It's just too bad the one buck in the pack with antlers is bent over forging while a doe is in front of him.
I didn't delivery drive for long, Halloween become full swing right around 6:00 p.m. The roads were packed with cars and the sidewalks were full of people.
I decided to stop and take a short walk down one street. The wind kind of disappeared but after the sun set it got colder. I was amazed by the activity and all the exhibits some people had set up. When I was a kid it was nothing like this. There were a lot of people burning small fires. I don't blame them they were sitting just handing candy to kid after kid.
I handed out candy the last two years and thought it would be busy delivery driving day this year. I was right it was busy but after one delivery took me nearly 35 minutes instead of 10 it was time to clock out. Mental note, hand out candy from now on , haha.
For the record, I didn't go trick or treating so no sweet candy for me. I did decide to make something sweet once I got home. I made pancakes and decided to top them with whip cream, chocolate and carmel.
Well that is my daily blog for today. Let's welcome November. Take care, be safe and have a great rest of your week. Until next time.
You really love Pinoy Food
Haha your cuisine is hard to resist Alice 😊
wow, that's good to know. I hope one day you can visit the Philippines and eat more Pinoy foods and explore our country
That's a wish I hope comes true :)
You will surely enjoy in Philippines Bob
Those are some wild temperature ranges haha but it’s been fluctuating for a while here as well. We seemed to have settled in for the cold temperatures though. Can’t complain too much, I rather enjoy them for a change of scenery!
Happy Halloween dude, it’s good to see the people out and about being social and all that! That’s how life should be!
Yup it appears the cold has come in to stay. Maybe soon I will adjust to it.
Yup many out tonight. It makes me miss taking my son out, but at 17 he's not much into saying trick or treat, haha. You take the little man out?
Yeah we still get to take him out! It was nice, had a friend join us in our neighborhood and had a nice bit of walking. Colder than we were expecting but it was okay! I’m not looking forward to the day where he’s too old to do these things ðŸ˜
It's a day you will reflect on the past but there's new things to do as well. Especially if he has interest in sports. There's always those outdoor activities like fishing and camping. If he shows interest still, I think your son will. No fun turning into a spectator but again they will always be our little boys.
Happy Halloween sir Bob!
The food you had ordered makes me hungry. Good thing, it's lunch time here already, hehehe.
Today will be a lot lighter on the food, haha. I'm set for a few days now. Happy November, just a few days and it's Your day 😊
Happy November too sir Bob. Yes, few more days another year will be added. Thanks for remembering it, sir Bob. Yours too, few weeks from now, it will be your special day.
Yours to easy to remember the same day as my grandfather's Birthday. Oh I wish it was 2003 not 2023 for me, haha. Have a great week.
Nope, not yet and I hope it stays that way. I've done several reviews and only one was negative, but I stand by my decision.
We don't celebrate Halloween and seeing your photos, I don't regret it al all. All those people on the streets, I don't think I would enjoy it.
In many countries in Europe, the 1st day of November is to remember our loved ones that are not with us anymore. We go to the cemetery and bring flowers and light candles. Unfortunately today there's pouring rain and it doesn't seem to stop. This is why people go on any day that is close to the 1st of November. We had some amazing, almost summer days, with 24°C temperatures, perfect occasion to go to the cemetery.
Hopefully it's the last time someone comes up to me asides from those at Ono Pinay Kitchen. I guess me showing face doesn't help the cause, haha.
Oh I didn't mind the street being packed just for a couple of hours, there was a lot of good vibes. There were so many exhibits, unbelievable. I took pictures on just one street. There were many streets like this.
It's just below 24 here too but Fahrenheit, lol. Feels like 10 degree 🥶 No precipitation here though. Wearing layers today. Excited for a busy November many things going on for me. Have a great rest of your day 😊
