Walking in Whitworth Park

Whitworth Park in Derbyshire has about 10 acres and a lake to have a nice leisurely stroll around, starting off at the wooden bridge.

Throughout the year the park hosts different kinds of sporting events, such as skateboarding, archery, and bowls. It was fairly peaceful today with just a few sleeping ducks by the lake.

The resident heron is still here. Once they catch fish in the pond, they’ll keep coming back for more.

We believe this to be chicken in the wood that you can cook. It tastes like chicken, so I won't be trying it. It can cause some people to have an allergic reaction, so I will leave it be. It looked good, though. At least with the wet or damp days, we might have a good crop of fungi in the forests this year. Something to look forward to!

The gall wasp produces growths (galls) on acorns of oak trees. Inside the gall, there is the larvae of the wasp. I've seen quite a few this year. Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to hurt the tree.

At least there were some sunflowers and honeysuckle to brighten the day up. Yet another overcast day. I think I've given up on having some summer days.

A coffee and a slice at the cafe in the park went down nicely.

This looks like it was a very serene walk. I would LOVE to find something like that here.
