Quetzalcoatl - Collage for/für LMAC 169 [EN | DE]

Hi Hivian 🖖
Round 169 ended half an hour ago. I almost didn't make it in time to join in. Where I live, people traditionally celebrate May Day. Families go on excursions (that was the case for me), others go out drinking and having a party (that was the case for me). I was really happy that I found a few hours to work on a LMAC collage. Because since I saw the template photo, I carried an idea around with me.
Just come and have a look in LMAC. We have a lot of creativity to admire and it could be the community where you discover your own inner artist.
I had a lot of fun making a collage for an LMAC round again this time, too. Of course, because I'm a jury member, I'm taking part out of competition.

Servus Hivianer 🖖

About my collage
This time the inspiration for my collage for LMAC 169 was based on being annoyed.
When I looked at the template for this round, I was annoyed by all the ugly buildings we humans put into the world today. Naked, cold, uncreative and unaesthetic concrete casting are disfiguring the whole world nowadays.
And so I dreamed of days long gone, when monumental and beautiful buildings were put in front of the eyes of gods and men. I don't remember how, but somehow I thought about pyramids and Quetzalcoatl and then I really wanted to do something in that direction with the contest template.

Materials
These are the materials I have made use of to create my collage. Besides the images below, I also painted some details myself (shadows, lights) and made completely new image elements from parts of these images (body armor).
For the work on the collage I only used the opensource image editor GIMP.

What is LMAC?
LMAC is a great community for artists of all skill levels. The name of the community is an abbreviation and stands for "Let's make a collage".
Just take a look. Even if you think you are not an artist, LMAC will probably prove you wrong.
Current round: LMAC #169.
Are you a good photographer and would like to contribute some nice good quality photos in exchange for good votes and tribute?
We are currently building our own photo/image library that we can use as a image source for our collages, but also every Hiver beyond LMAC is very welcome to use the images in it.

Was ist LMAC?
Schau einfach mal rein.

Hello @quantumg. I like your theme and the colors of your collage. The stone entrance resembles a walkway into another dimension. I like how you covered the graffiti on the pillars and replaced with corresponding color objects. Nicely done. Thanks for including my fractal in your scene. I appreciate it.
Take care and have a good rest of your week.
!ALIVE

A charming and fantastic collage, I can feel the vibe of the ancient aztec, perfect perspective plus the pathway, inspiring 🤩
Many thanks @teukuadam. :-)
I love this, from the way you change out the support beans to the way your decorate the bridge itself with Mesoamerican symbols. You mine art and history. The architecture from that culture was beautiful, and yet--I think of the grim sacrifices carried out on their magnificent alters.
Quite an evocative image. As always, your meticulous skill shines through.
Hi @agmoore. 👋
Thank you very much. :-)
When I think about this culture, I have the same problem. From today's point of view, it really seems to have been a barbaric time.
However, my ethical programming goes haywire here because I am also very sure that other civilizations (ancient, future, extraterrestrial, zoological?) might consider our civilization barbaric as well. I'm really not sure we are qualified to praise our standards above the standards of other civilizations.
All the barbaric deeds they did in their time were a matter of survival and their own understanding of the world. Just as we do today. And we still don't know if we are right in everything we do. After all, many of us consider even our civilization barbaric. And real victims of our civilization are all around the world. I'm afraid the number of dead and alive victims of our civilization, which has existed only a tiny fraction of the time that other civilizations have existed, is already unbeatable.
Although I am not a Christian, I prefer not to cast the first stone on that. Because I am too afraid that this stone actually belongs to me and my time too.
A big friendly hug to you. 🤗
I agree with you that cultural judgements are not appropriate in this case and most others. My comment reflected my own association of cruelty with the alters. One certainly can look to other cultures that institutionalized equal, or worse cruelties--how about the Inquisition, for example.
It is discouraging to dwell on how easily we humans devolve into a justification of cruelty (solitary confinement in U. S. jails, another contemporary example). It's just that when I see the magnificent alter I also see the sacrifice. It's my hyperactive imagination, which never rests :))
Have a most wonderful weekend, @quantumg. Here the sun is shining. It's wonderful.
A big friendly hug in return.
Muchas gracias! :-)
Wow! spectacular collage, as always! We are used to expect something spectacular from you.
I had the privilege of visiting the pyramid of Quetzalcoatl in Teotihuacan, the truth is impressive to see those pyramids but I think seeing the ones in Egypt must be even more so.
Happy week my friend! 🤗
Thanks a million @mballesteros. Yikes! High expectations!!! I guess I'll have to work hard like that permanently. :-D
Honestly, I can't decide which impresses me more. I think they all have their fantastic stories and spirits. The American pyramids wear their charm more on the outside and the Egyptian ones more on the inside.
I would really love to have a time machine camera drone to explore these times and places. Even if it would put my own fascination with them at risk. After all, some say there's still a chance that they all were built by some ancestors of the chickens. xD
Have a happy Sunday, @mballesteros. :-)
