Smiles, magic, a corner of heaven, a house full of joy around Christmas
Hello everyone, I hope you have a wonderful weekend before Christmas and I wish you all that your homes are filled with smiles, joy, the smell of cookies and cinnamon.
One of the most awaited moments of the year is the coming of December, December here in Romania is also called the month of gifts.
It's a hectic month where people are like ants, running around like we're racing to get to as many stores as we can to get an idea of the gifts we want to give this year.
We start exploring the city in search of the most beautiful tree that we will adorn with lots of lights (I have to admit that I don't like cutting down natural Christmas trees, but I rather like the idea of an artificial tree that we can use for many years), we look for dozens of meters of lights that I'm sure together with the family we will put on our houses (honestly, I saw some houses decorated that I think they look like from Mars, I'm curious what their electricity bill will be next month, hehe).
Throughout Romania, decorating houses is a tradition, especially on Christmas Day, on the streets of villages there are groups of young people passing by people's houses to sing carols, we have in some areas of Romania some traditions about celebrating Christmas several hundred years old.
And now back to what I am doing this weekend to prepare for Christmas next weekend, very good question, and my answer will be the following, just this weekend together with my work colleagues we have prepared over 300 bags full of goodies that will be given away some of them this Sunday to all the children in our community who will visit us this Sunday in the village centre (many of the children who will visit us are not very well off so such a gesture I think is very appropriate).
Besides these bags we will prepare a few hundred more for all the school children in our commune, but these bags will be given next weekend, when these wonderful children will perform some traditional Romanian carols.
We are talking about so many hundreds of bags full of goodies that you can imagine that without the help of sponsors we could not put a smile on the faces of so many children.
The photos are taken by me while I was making these gifts, and yes, my colleagues didn't want to appear in the phorographs and I respect their decision, I can't wait to meet the kids to see their faces beaming with happiness.
All in all, this weekend we will be preparing the packages that will be distributed for Christmas to the children in the community where I live, and if I have enough time next week to prepare for the coming of Christmas, I won't be doing too much preparation because I will be going on a mini-vacation to a place I have wanted to go for a long time.
