Five Lives I’d Love to Live for a Weekend. #Week280

The topic I chose for this week’s Weekend Experience is: “If I could switch lives with someone for one weekend, who would it be, why, and what would I do with my weekend?”

When I first read this topic, I thought it would be easy to choose. But the more I thought about it, the harder it became.
The first thing that came to my mind was someone who has everything: money, love, fame, comfort, happiness. But then I realized that if I only switched lives with that person for a weekend, once I came back to my life would probably feel very miserable.

But switching with someone who has less than me? Someeone very humble or struggling with life, would only make me appreciate what I already have even more. But I don’t think that’s the point of this experiment either.

Maybe it’s not about having more or less. Maybe it’s about seeing life from a different perspective and through other eyes and values.

So I started thinking about people I admire, people whose way of living I would like to experience, even for a short while.

I couldn’t really decide just one. So here are five:

  • The first one would be Eckhart Tolle. I have been reading about him a lot recently. I've been trying to practice what he teaches. I've been trying to put to practice all his advices. And it's something I really admire, the position where he is in mindfulness. And for sure I would love to, for once, try and have a weekend with a mind like him. He feels peace and feels very enlightened.

  • The second one that came to my mind, I really would be a famous artist. I would love to be very skilled in like painting and being able to just feel like I live with and for the art I make. Just not having any other worries about money, likes, recognitions, just being already a renowned artist that whatever I make is like big, great, timeless piece of art. Having my own exhibition in museums, just being able to create things as I live.

  • The third one would be someone having crazy experiences and adventures, maybe an astronaut going above Earth for a space mission, or maybe an actor filming a wild adventure movie like Spider-Man or Indiana Jones. Or even better, not the actor but the actual character, being a Jedi or someone with superpowers, a real superhero. I don’t know, why not? If I could switch lives with anyone, I’d love to live those crazy, amazing, unbelievable adventures.

  • The fourth one would be a Buddhist monk. I would love to spend one weekend living as a monk, in a temple far away from all the noise, without phones, without rush, without obligations, without fears about the future or the past. With Buddhist wisdom, with that culture… I don’t know, I’d just love to see what a Buddhist’s life feels like for a weekend. Maybe just one weekend, because maybe I’d go crazy if I stayed longer, I’m not sure.

  • The last one might be a little out of context, but what about my future self? Ten years from now, I’d love to see who I’ve become, if I keep working hard, if I keep following my dreams, if I’ve learned something from today, if I’m happy. And if I did something wrong, I’d like to change it or at least learn from it.

In the end, maybe it’s not really about switching lives, but about realizing that each of these versions already lives somewhere inside me. 🙂

This post is my entry for The Weekend Experience hosted by @galenkp. The topic I chose from list of this week's topics was: If you could switch lives with someone for one weekend who is it and why, and what would you do with your weekend?

I hope you liked it! I can't wait to read yours!

Greetings, this topic is a way of putting yourself in someone else's shoes to see how they feel and how you act towards others.

I loved your point of view on swapping someone's life for a weekend; the secret lies in learning from that experience. I liked all the options, but having Buddhist wisdom would be great!!!

I am glad you liked my point of view! Definitely would be really good to learn from it.

The Buddhist wisdom would be great indeed! I can only imagine what it must feel like inside their minds. As interesting as exploring the space. :)

I think experiencing freedom without being tied down to material things would be great!🤗

I enjoyed reading your post. I have often thought that one lifetime is not enough for all the things one would like to experience.
