Three fond memories on my phone

Three fond memories on my phone

When I read @galenkp's invitation this week in the post Weekend-Engagement topics: WEEK 293, I immediately thought of answering the question about forgiveness... but then I said to myself, “Do something different and more fun this time,” so I decided to share 3 photos.

Before showing them to you, I should clarify that I am not a photographer and I am not very talented at it, but when I am in nature, I love to take photos not only of landscapes but also of small details. I try to capture animals that are unaware of the camera, flowers, trees... I take close-ups or out-of-focus shots to see how they turn out, and here are some of those experiments.

In the first photo, you'll see my friend feeding a seagull on Daytona Beach... that day we went to see the beach and it was so cold that we could barely take off our shoes to feel the sand on our feet. So we just walked along the beach and came across this group of seagulls and wanted to take a creative photo. After three attempts, I managed to capture the moment when the seagull took the potato chip my friend was holding in her hand.

Then we tried to do the same exercise in reverse, but it didn't work out well, mainly because I couldn't relax knowing that one of the birds might peck my head (I'd already had a bad experience with them, ha ha ha), and this was the result:

(These are some extra photos, they don't count towards the 3)

Then, walking along the pier, we found another bird. I slowly approached it, trying to take a close-up photo, and I think I got a really good shot because it stayed facing me, almost as if it were posing for me. It was a really nice experience because it was very relaxed and the background was wonderful!

The last photo is emotional for me. I took it the first time we left the house after the pandemic lockdown. I remember there were still restrictions on going out, but we were so desperate to get some fresh air and get out of those four walls that I decided to take the kids to a park near our house.

I thought we would be the only ones there, and I even thought it would be closed, but to my surprise, it was open and there were a couple of families who, like us, were looking to clear their heads. After playing for a couple of hours, walking, and breathing fresh air, I took this photo as the sun was setting.

I remember that moment very clearly because I was longing to see the sun again, and I was so grateful to God for giving me that opportunity that day.

I hope you liked my selection.

See you next weekend! Thanks for being and good vibes to you!
