Locker identifier

Hello everyone, this morning the activity we did was a self portrait for the kids to know what their locker was!!!

I work with children aged 4 and 5 years old. 5 year olds can already paint what they imagine, some 4 year olds asked for help to draw, others drew as they knew 😀 and I loved the result, they were very funny 💖

Before asking the child to do a self-portrait, which is far from simple, I try to let them familiarize themselves with the subject. We talked about what a self-portrait is, we observed several examples of artists, in different languages. We also observe the friend's face to analyze what the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. I also ask her to look in the mirror, and only then do I let her produce her portrait according to the criteria she defines.

Children are so precise that they highlight, in their productions, the details of the eyes, such as the eyelashes, and the curves of the shape of the mouth. Details that, perhaps, would not appear in their productions if they did not have this whole process of preparation.

We keep saying that games are great for developing children's socio-emotional skills. In activities you might not expect, like doing a self-portrait with kids, you not only stimulate creativity, you help your child define their identity. Who is he and what are the differences from the other?

The many benefits of playing art making:
helps stimulate imagination, develop fine motor skills, find innovative solutions, reuse materials and much more. Drawing or painting the child can express what is often difficult to say. What's more, they have help to develop patience, attention, focus and even get to know themselves better.

Of course, at 4 years old, children don't have fine motor skills developed enough to really be able to follow the features of their own face.

I hope you like it, see you soon friends 😀

Yes, I like it 🤩😂
My son struggles to draw but he can paint very well. Seems his motor skills haven't yet developed, he is 4 years old now.
Drawing or painting has lots of benefits for growing children. This is a wake-up post for me to step up my game in assisting my child.
Thanks for sharing mom 👍
